Everybody thinks England fans are violent but:

Quote
Tony Blair has joined the condemnation of racist attacks on people wearing England tops in Scotland.

In one incident, a seven-year-old boy was punched in the head while he played football with his father in Edinburgh.

And in another, a disabled man was dragged from his car in Aberdeen and given a black eye.

Both were wearing England football shirts at the time.

At Prime Minister's question time in the Commons, Anne Begg, Labour MP for Aberdeen South, invited Mr Blair to join the "vast majority" of Scots in condemning the violent attack in the city.

Mr Blair replied: "I am sure everybody condemns what was an appalling and totally unjustifiable attack."

I thought a racist attack was one that was based on race. Last I knew both England and Scottland were not races. That would be like saying Canada is a race.

England and Scottland don't mix when it comes to football, but some people just take things way too far. A bit of friendly rivalry and friendly banter is one thing, but this has just gone too far. Saying that though most Scottish people are great, it's just the odd nutter. You get a few nutters every where in the world.

Having just gone through the National Basketball Assn. finals here between the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat, I certainly understand the rivalry that occurs... (and the massive gambling that some people do.)

But to my knowledge there were no violent attacks, just a lot of rivalry, cheering and yelling.

By the way, Miami won!    Boo Hoo Dallas!    Guess they'll have to cancel that big parade they were going to have.

One of the biggest rivalries in sports here in the states is the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox (baseball for those who are not familiar). They hate each other. The fans hate each other. When they play each other there are an equal number of fans from both teams at the stadium. For the most part, they show respect for each other. However, there has been events that shame everyone also. It only takes one or two jerks to do this.
