After Arnie got to become Governer of California it's quite possible IMHO. His career was only stalled since he was not born in America.

Angelina (aka Lara Croft) has the same gun slinging, action-adventure actor credentials that are of proven importance in attaining high office in the USA.

Angelina Jolie is too "out there" to ever become president. Most people here in the states find her beautiful, but thata is all. She is extremely strange and loves the headlines. This is not what we need for a leader. After 8 years of a womanizer and 8 years of a fool, we need someone who is serious, intellegent, has a good sense of what the "real people" are going through and is a great public speaker. That is not Angelina Joliee.

If you find such a leader, please don't be too selfish, please share it with us as well  Grin

Heck, first lets find one. Then we can see about sharing.

It is a shame that the rich run the world. They don't have a clue what it is like for the working people. Worse yet, they don't understand what it is like to not be able to find a job.

Tomb Raider does the White House. What a headline that would be.

She looks a bit better than the woman we had in charge of England once as well.

But she's not as famous as Iron Lady Wink (at least from what I know)

BTW speaking about woman as president...
what about Hillary Clinton? She seems good person to me or I just doesn't know something about her?

Hilary Clinton is just TOO DARN CLOSE to that other Clinton character.   I personally would not vote for her.

Now Barbara Bush has got a lot of smarts (more than hubby) but I suspect she wouldn't be taken seriously either with her worser half still around.

With electioneering process the way it is, I'm afraid we're stuck with the rich, deluded, power hungry politicians here.

They are talking about Hillary Clinton being the next president. I really hope that never happens. She is an extreme liberal. She makes the political shows look conservative. I would vote for anyone else just to make sure she doesn't become president.

Our "primary" system is a joke. It is set up in such a way that the people don't really have a say. Instead of doing the voting in one day so everyone who wants to run has a chance, they do it over several months. This leaves the people without the big budgets out of the running because they cannot keep spending the money on the ads.

The parties (republican and democratice) make their choice early on. They then spin the media in that direction. Anyone who is not the party favorite has no chance of getting on the presidential ticket. Even if the people want them.

The parties also have made it so it will remain a two party system by not allowing any other party in the debates unless they have 5% of the polls. This is hard to do for a non-party candidate. The only one who was able to do this was Ross Perot. He probably would have actually won the election if he wanted to. He played games to make sure he didn't win (dropped out and then when he returned, he chose the worst VP ever).

Just like in any other country, the people actually have very little to say about who wins the election. They are provided two candidates and choose from them. At that point, it is the lesser of two evils usually.

I have seriously considered running for an office recently. I don't like the way the country is run. I don't like the poor getting poorer and the rich getting richer. I don't like the way they are handling national and international policy.

Hope, it's a great idea, but you have to have the backing of influential sources and LOTS of money to run for Congress.   Unless you have a strong public image or big name contacts, it's a very long shot.

Most people try to start out in local politics first making the right contacts, etc.   Then they gradually move on to bigger and better things; hopefully to Congress where they park for the next four years.   By then THEY ARE EXPERIENCED GAMES PLAYERS.    They've learned you pat my back and I'll pat yours, trade-offs, manipulation, deception and hype.

NOPE, don't think you'd like it all!     Shocked   But then again, just every so often, a little person does make it and may make a difference, if they don't become completely discouraged first.

I am aware there is no way I could ever really get elected. I don't have the money or the connections. This is the biggest problem with government. I am sure it is that way in most countries.

I think there are secret societies in most countries to keep control of power.

In Britain most politicians seem to be Scottish or at least have strong connections to Scotland but try and hide the fact.

People that go to Oxbridge get special access to highly paid jobs. Then we have the Masons and various religions that are closed societies to outsiders.

In India there is the cast system etc.
