I just started playing some of my favorite music and realised how few people around the world may never hear it.

So how about a thread to post about great bands/music that are not mainstream?

At the moment I am listening to Lita Ford Best tracks: Lisa - about lesbian love and The Ripper no idea what this is about but it's great rock music.

Not well known? Well there is mark broussard. He is New Orleans style jazz/country mix. Great sound. My all time not so well known is Chris Ledoux. I guess you can't really say he is "unknown" because he was one of the best cowboy singers around. Lots of western country music. A great musician.

If you look in the blogs on myspace, you will find loads of unknown bands and singers. Its a shame some of the songs they play never make it though.

There is a lot of talent out there, but if they do not have the look our sound that is "now" they never make it. It is not fair at all.

I guess there are 100's of great unheard of bands out there. I guess they need to learn how to use the power of the web to let people find them.

In all honesty, Myspace is a mine of good talent. Most indie bands find their name and fame in Myspace. Currently, I'm trying to help a friend right now as his group is starting to formally launch their band. I'm trying to create a song code generator for them so Myspace users can attach their songs to their profiles.

Yeah I heard that MySpace marketing is a hot topic and wondered how it's possible to make money from this medium. Of course, advertising bands is a good idea since the youngsters buy the songs. For established artists I like most others search on sites like YouTube I guess?

Back to the main topic...

I keep hearing JPop music that I really like but my friends like Jazz which I don't like at all so they can't help me with identifying the artist. The particular song I like was being played from the small speakers on a ski-resort chair lift in Japan so it's not the ideal place to ask people about the music being played. The lyric had "call my name" in it in English which I traced to a band called Garnet Crow on the internet but some clips of them on YouTube didn't sound like this song at all. It's a ballad-like song by a female singer. I also found some suggestions of the best Jpop singers and played some tunes by them on youtube which were ok but not what I was looking for  Huh

Actually, the phrase may have been "say my name" but that just brings up Destiny's Child on internet searches.
