Welcome to Webmaster Key, Asheef! Such problem most frequently arise when you have overheating problem, which my arise form bad airflow or non-working fan. I'd recommend to use temperature monitoring software which usually shipped on the moterboard disk, or if you don't have OS installed, try to check your BIOS as nowadays there are many motherboards which allow you to control temperature and voltage from BIOS itself.

Try to see what happenning before shut downs, is temperature become critical or not.

Also maybe you can tell what PSU(power supply) and motherboard model you're using?

Hope we'll be able to solve your problem.

Many causes,
   1. Overheating, as Senso said. Clean power supply and inside computer, CAREFULLY! ( Your power supply is live even when its turned off)
   2. Failing power supply, may need replacing.
   3. Faulty Ram stick, may need to replace ram.( if you have two sticks, try removing one and see if the problem persists. If it keeps doing it, try the other one etc.)
   4. Virus and spyware can cause symptoms like this, Update your virus programme. (you do have one dont you? ) Many folks dont have any protection, or do not reguarly update.
   5. Have you added any new programme lately? May be a conflict. Try removing anything knew you've installed.

  Hope it helps

The fact that it happens a specific length of time sounds as though it could be shutting down due to settings in your power control settings unless you know for sure they are all correct.

256 MB of Ram is not nearly enough ram for WinXP. I know that M$ states that you need only 128 MB, but it uses more than that just sitting idle most of the time.
