I've heard of XGL before but never seen it's implementation. if I got some spare time which could spend for fun I'll maybe downlod CVS and try to compile it to see how it works. Anyway hope that this technology could make Linux desktop more attractive to new users.

BTW here are more videos available: http://www.novell.com/linux/xglrelease/
I didn't watch video you've posted as 59mb is way too much for me Tongue

Maybe someone already tried this desktop himself?

More people should look at those videos that you've put the link on for. They show the full power of Linux and would change a lot of peoples minds about wanting to upgrade to Windows Vista.

BTW can you think of a use for the transparency ?

sure Smiley I'm using false transparency on my terminal windows in order to see my background, I have green font, black background and transparency enabled. Not sure like with others but for me it's provide calming effect Smiley
I still didn't try true transparency as didn't have time to compile new X.org
As for real transparency it could make look desktop not so cluttered IMHO but I'm not 100% sure.
Guess I need to watch those videos myself too as in time I've posted the link I didn't have enough bandwidth to do this.

PS regarding transparency, I alsmost forgot, it would be another cool feature not yet available on Windows  Grin
