Hi Zikam! I doubt that such list is available publicly for anyone except workers of corresponding search engine, although I think that putting such list to public could do Internet more healthy place as sites which use non ethic practice and was banned by search engines would not likely be trusted by potential customers

Hey all,

Is that what some people call "blacklisted" sites? Is that what happens when you send out spam and such? If so, I don't think it is public information but it sure would be nice like you said.

The problem with sites that are blacklisted from Yahoo and Google is that they change all the time. Sites are added regularly and removed occassionally. You would need to have an insider at the SE to find this information.

Hmmm, who do I know at the SE to find this info.
You got me thinking about starting a database, kinda like they do for sex offenders now.
The public needs to know about these slimballs.

Anybody got any ideas.

Maybe there could be a anonymous input form for use by SE admins? If the sites existed but were nowhere in the search engines then they could be listed.

A script could check which sites are still up.

Maybe a Google world map could visually show the origins of the sites too?

If you read up on search engine optimization, you will learn the good and bad. Stay away from the bad and you will be ok.

If you follow the directions on how to optimize the sites correctly, then you should be OK. Each search engine has a list of unacceptable practices. You should take a look. The basics are:

Don't cloak (put one page for the search engines and another for the real visitors)
Don't use doorway pages for the search engines
Don't use invisible text
Don't mislead the search engines as to the nature of the site
Don't use auto submitters

I suggest reading the different forums. They tend to have the best information. Be careful where you learn from though. There are three types of SEO. White Hat, Gray Hat and Black Hat. The Black Hats will do anything no matter what to get in the seach engines  (examples: adult, gambling, drugs). The Gray Hats walk a fine line and take risks but try not to get banned. A White Hate will ONLY do what the search engines accept. They don't push the limits at all.

I suggest at the beginning learning from the White Hats only. It is safer. Once you understand White Hat SEO, then you can choose to venture out to Grey Hat area. Stay away from Black Hat though.
