Yeah, I like the idea too  Grin One-way inbound links are always nice. It is better if they are from related sites but who cares.

My strategy for my urgentclick.com site was to post resources that I hoped people would link to and it payed off, I never actively went out looking for link exchanges, yet my PR has been 6 for a few years now. For example I host a free submit to my directory and other webmaster related stuff that people mention in forums and cut and paste code from.

Since updating my Blog http://blog.urgentclick.com/ with lots of fresh content it jumped from PR zero to PR 5  Grin

I read recently that too many webmasters spend too much time driving traffic to their sites and not enough time building the site content and tweaking it for maximum revenues etc. I do the opposite and normally can't be bothered seeking out link partners. However, I have posted pages to let them cut and paste my linking code and ask for a linkback. This is far more efficient than going out looking for webmasters with zero PR to link to your zero PR site  Wink

While you are building content and interactivity on your site, they are getting nowhere.

Oh yes, don't neglect building subscriber lists from your visitors. This is an area I have neglected and even for a site I haven't had time to build, I got 40 names on my list from a register your potential interest page.  Grin

It also needs to monitor few things like how much the traffic comes in increased volume from those quality links and which links are bringing the most traffic and the sales conversion, accordingly you can make changes  Roll Eyes

It depends upon the quality of the link and how a Search engine consider it in your network, obviously quality links will bring quality traffic. Shocked

Hi,

I was reading a blog by a guy named James Brausch he said that right now
linking is 40% of what search engines are looking at.

So would you be willing to pay $1000 to have 1000's of incoming links?
What a great idea and so simple.

Yeah but aren't the one-way links from related content sites worth more when it comes to ranking then from link directories?

This is a great strategy. Nearly as good as using James Brausch Hermusa, which builds automatically RELATED ONE WAY LINKS to your site. You are sceptic? Just go and check it out:

I don't believe article submission is a great link-building strategy. At best you would get 1 authority link back to your site. At worst you would get flagged in a search engine algorithm as somebody engaged in a link-building campaign. Article submission should be regarded as a branding exercise to establish your name and credibility to people that wouldn't otherwise find your site.

Building relationships between related sites is the way to go IMHO such as participating in forums plus social networking with blogs and not mass submitting articles using automated means. You can see this trend developing and succeeding with bloggers who help each other out and make full time incomes from blogging. They naturally inter-link their sites all the time from within related unique content.

Blogs are the way to go. Forget submitting articles to depositories and submit them to your own blog! Then link out freely to others and watch them link back. That's the way things work these days. Just look at the home page of any successful blog and count the number of outbound links  Grin

These are all great ideas, and I'm trying to build a set of good links on my blog.

One question though - how should these outgoing links be categorized.   I'm thinking under the 'business' category since mine is related to senior issues and most of the issues need more info on specific areas.

For example:   I checked out a site called A Place For Mom as part of an article I was writing; I immediately got a telephone call and then an email from them.
"A Place for Mom is a free senior care referral service for you and your family."

So how would I set up a useful, profitable link with them?    I need to answer the email.      Wink
