Does anyone want to discuss or post questions on this topic?

I'm interested since I recently bought a 802.11g compatible router to use with wired and wireless connections in the home.

I purchased a unit made in my local city here in Japan by IOData. It was only around USD70 equivalent with wireless and 4 wired lan connections in a very small size enclosure. The only problem for me is that I haven't worked out how to log network traffic since all the menus are in Japanese, but it is just a matter of time. At least I set up a secure encrypted data link over wireless lan.

if you mean that you access it's statistic through web interface maybe it's worth to look for a firmware which contain English language for device?
BTW you've made mistake in your previous post writing 820.11g instead of 802.11g.
Too bad I can't discuss a lot about wireless as I didn't deal with it a lot till that moment Tongue

I think that I'll write BlueTooth HOWTO for Linux shortly(it shouldn't take as much time as HOWTO about merging to Linux which I couldn't finish till that moment), maybe it would be useful for someone.

Any chance of giving a run down on the different classes of bluetooth ?
I know you can get class 1 and class 2, but don't know the difference.
I take it that one is better than the other ?
 Huh
I've got this big bendy bluetooth device in the back of my PC that i use to connect up to my mobile phone to transfer photos that i take. I don't know anything about it apart from i know it works.

generally talking Class 1 and 2 differ by range they cover with signal. With Class 1 devices you would be able to connect to other device from the distance upto 100 meters, and Class 2 have more strict restriction and have range of 10 meters only. But it's told that Class 2 cause less radio interference and it's adviced to use when it's possible. For my flat I need Class 1 as I used to connect to my PC from other room and 10 meter device doesn't work here.

I almost forgot to tell, when choosing bluetooth device you should also check for it's revision.
e.g. revision 1.1 isn't very good e.g. after I turn power on my PC and turn it on again, device couldn't be found(I've check it on 3 motherboards), from other side device with rev 1.2 doesn't have this problem on same motherboards, this revision also doesn't conflict with WiFi devices which was an issue before. Rev 2.0 is newest and have numerous features one of which is higher data transfer speed which is good thing of course Wink
You can find more detailed info about this in this Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth

Let me know if you have more quesitons or need help in using Bluetooth under Linux.
