One week ago we had pretty cold weather here and it's affect not only people but birds who come here in winter looking for a warmer weather.
Swans come here almost each year and  this year they fly to our local beach as well, people fed them as usually but when weather become colder sea freeze and leave no water for swans and sea gulls to swim. Here's two pictures I've made, during we try to feed poor birds.

as you can see birds have to walk on the ice...  Sad
I've tried to brake an ice so as someone before me but it quickly freeze again... Undecided

as you can see only two swans are left, before ice covered the water there was 7 birds but next day when water freeze only two birds are left they were young and probably too exhausted by flight so couldn't fly anymore and left here, they could hardly move and even don't eat bread at first, all bread was stolen by sea gulls. But with the dark all gulls fly some place for rest and we finally manage to feed there two swans, they become more alive and after feeding was manage to fly on a deep water where was some clear water without ice.

Finally we've got read of ice and I've made another photo:

as you can see swans back to us Smiley

Ahh, I love a happy ending  Grin

p.s. great pics. I would trim them to size to include only the detail.

Seems like the first 2 birds are in smpathy with each other.

actually I've post them only to tell stories Tongue Didn't like very much any of these pictures. As for trimming I've actually tried to do this, and I've did it with the first and last pictures, but if trim it anymore they look stupid to me, maybe I've did it in a wrong way of course. If it's not hard maybe you'll trim them in a way you see them, maybe I'll learn something from you and pictures would look better.

I wouldn't say so, sea gull was sitting and waiting there to steal food, and swan was so tired that couldn't even stand on his legs to move...(at least in the time I've take first shot, in the night they become alive).

And here is another shot which is favourite photo of Sveta, it shows how many birds there was... (there was about 3 times more birds when in the frame).

Wonderful story! Birds as people can, have a hard time in extreme weather. Great pics Denis! I love seagulls and swans. I feel sorry for the seagulls in Portland where I live. We are 100 miles from the ocean and they follow ships into our port and there is not the foods that they are used to eating here. No more fresh crab! They hang out at burger king and mcdonalds, hoping for a french fry!
