Temperature here fall even more now it's reaching record point of -23 degrees( = -9.4 degrees Fahrenheit,  and it's pretty cold to go outside because of strong wind... from what I know 12 people already freeze to death and our hospitals has problems with keeping patients warm... I've seen report where temperature in the room is only 10 degrees so many patients got flu in addition to other illness Tongue
What about your area, is it so cold there as well?

It's 75° F today! Grin A little warmer than it has been for the past few weeks. Still a bit windy, though... It's nice out.

Our weather has been running in the high 60's F and even the 70's.    In fact, it seems more like spring than winter as this is supposed to be our coldest time of year.    The drought has been continual until yesterday... temps fell in to the 40's F and we got a little rain in my area.    Less than an inch though; enough to temporarily stop the fire danger but not nearly enough for the farmers.   Some areas south and east of us got more rain, thank goodness.   The whole state has been on fire alert, we still are, but danger has diminished for those lucky enough to get rain.    In the 50's today, sunny, no more chances of rain.    Supposed to get back up in the 70's tomorrow.

So we are definitely not having winter this year, and snow is totally unlikely.

Denis, it's terrible that persons in hospitals are having to endure such terrible temperatures.    I just cannot imagine being sick and then freezing as well.    Sure looks as if your hospitals are not properly equipped.

In the South of England, the mid winter weather is mild and my neighbour washed his car wearing a tee-shirt yesterday.

Plus we are having very little rain which is a problem for water supplies.

Thats to bad senso.  Sad

The weather here has been from 40 to 60 degrees (F) this winter. MUCH warmer than it should be. Last week I saw some bees out flying around. They have been fooled into thinking its spring. Of course, they will die...which is good or bad depending on who you are.  Grin

We are running about 50 degrees farenheit presently. I have noticed some spring buds popping up. Denis, I think you should move to America! 10  degrees in a hospital room?? Awful! WE could very well still get some horrific icy weather before spring. Hope we don't though and wishing all those battling old man winter, victory (especially Denis with his plants!  Grin!)

Yep, Denis, 'tis money and the lack of it that rules the world.    I think it is sickening the way the American auto companies are closing plants and laying off workers (14 plants and 25-30,000 employees at Ford Motor Co.), yet the CEO's and other big cheeses are raking in millions every year.

So you are not alone in bemoaning the money problems and the governments' foolish waste of it.    Talked to a lady at work today who is planning to sell her home.   She has three children in college and another getting ready to go.    I asked if they were selling the house to get money for the college expenses?    She said No... they couldn't afford to pay the property taxes on the house anymore.   Her taxes are currently costing her
$20,000 per year.   That's more than I make, even counting my part time job.    And far more than many people earn yearly around the world.

I'm sure glad I don't measure the value of my life and lifestyle in $$$$.    Wish the governments didn't either!

Denis I talked to my husband about your statement about the hospitals having 10 degree rooms...He knew all about it. I think your government needs to care for it's people.  Angry  I still think you should move to America! Oh and  my government sucks too, but they would not get away with the "no heat in hospitals". NO WAY!

Oh and Denis if my statement is too strong I will totally understand if you delete and will not holler! Wink

guess if it would be so they would care much about mid class people more than they do it currently, I've heard that some European countries actually try to show that they don't posses a lot of money, they go to super markets, use bicycle to drive on the roads and use buses and sub-way... here such things are not imaginable Grin

not sure about this one as it's pretty unsafe in your country lately, when I watch the news I become glad that I live in the region where I live, since such viruses(at least till last year), terrorist attacks and hurricanes doesn't appear in our area.
PS is there a safe state in US where nothing big happen and people could live in peace?

maybe things mentioned above doesn't trap us because we already have some nasty problems to solve and here is one of them...

PS I maybe like to move one day from here to place with better ecology but to do this I had to have enough money to take my family with me and to ensure they had as good level of live as they had here.

Yes, there are many such places in U.S. Denis.    Generally that would be in your more rural states, like Nebraska, Wyoming, Dakotas, Missouri, Arkansas, gee, lots of them.    Only thing you should NOT DO is to move into a large urban area like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, any of the major cities.   Outlying suburban areas are often prettys safe, but that may require commuting to the job.   Cause the problem is, that's where the jobs are a lot of the time.    It really depends on the work you want to do.

I've no idea what your family lifestyle is now; but if you're seeking good housing, heating and cooling, generous food supplies, etc. etc. you'll find them anywhere you go.    All the ordinary stuff of life is available for anyone with a decent job and/or income.    Anything fancy might have to wait for a while.

One thing about U.S.   We have any kind of weather you could want - from freezing cold winters to year round temperate or warm climates, and many varieties in between.    So think about it!

P.S.   I appreciate your loyalty to your family; am assuming you mean parents.   Do you have any siblings?    And of course there's Sveta, sure can't leave her out!

I think moving to America would be a bad idea for Senso since it is too extreme.

Like one person could be extremely friendly yet another may gun you down in an instant. This happened to British tourists that took a wrong turn in Miami after hiring a car from the airport. The husband of 30 years asked some guy on the street for directions and got robbed then shot dead next to his wife in the car. I was sickened by this and noway would I want to go near miami now.

I understand what you're saying Andy, but Miami is an extreme case... plus it is a major city!    Miami is loaded with illegal immigrants, drug dealers, etc. etc.    I'm sure it has its good sides but I don't care to go there.

Any major urban area is going to have its' radical criminal element and a foreigner is always more subject to crime, harassment and intimidation by the  "rabble".   That's why I would suggest a more rural environment and careful research before making the trip.    Having friends in the area you're going to is also a big plus.

The average hard working, moral American is friendly, helpful and welcoming to strangers.    We respond to needs, help those in distress, and in general are pretty nice folks.    It's a shame the media portrays only the bad stuff because there is much more good stuff to see.

Any major move is loaded with obstacles and uncertainties - even yours to Japan.    And you have family awaiting you there to smooth the way.    But the transition still will not be easy unless you have lived there before.   But it is worth it if it is what you really want!

Does Denis want to move to America?    Only he knows for sure.   And I am sure it will be in some future time, not the present.   He has a lot going on, right where he is!

OK, off my soapbox now!     Roll Eyes
