There are two news to start with, first that we finally got cold weather and snow, the other that winter this time is unusually strong for our region, right now we had -15 degrees Celsius = 5 degrees Fahrenheit.
Last year I had all my cactuses on the balcony(it's shielded by glass so temperature there is higher than on the street) this year all of them blossom much better than usually(as actually cactuses need cold weather to properly form flowers), so I decide to leave them another winter on the balcony along with other succulents and plants which doesn't afraid of cold weather, all was well till today morning...
When I wake up I saw beautiful engravement left by winter on the window and all of plants were frozen as well, some cactuses seems to be ok but some got ice inside and when warm air come to balcony they simply melted to liquid...
I was too careless not checking temperature on the balcony and from what I can see it falls to -5 or more...
I'm very sad as some of the cactuses was grown from seeds so as plants, and I'm not sure if would be able to find them again:(
I also not sure if the rest of cactuses would be alive, as I don't have a room for them inside so I had to leave them on balcony  covering by bottles and hope for better. Right now temperature is about 0...+2 there but in night it could fall... Undecided

Cry OH wow! I did something similar and lost the most beautiful succulent I ever had!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had left it out for one winter and it was fine, but the next winter it died a horrible death. I do still have pictures of it on a disk. I will try to find it when I get time, in honor of it's memory! Wink

I am sorry for your loss Denis! Wink

Thanks Rachel and Rosie! I hope that covering with bottles would save the rest of my collection.

Rosie, what about your cactuses have they grow outside and wasn't covered by any means?

I only have one cactus and it's indoors. Our weather is just too wet to grow outdoors. I never have had too much luck with cactus. I usually water them too much. I just keep thinking they would like a drink of water until I kill them! Undecided

It might be (have been)a Christmas Cactus-not sure.Sorry about the size ,but when I reduced the picture you really could not see how great this plant was...

Maybe it's too big! I will shrink it. I shrinked it -If you can see the picture, it is the plant on the left with the long foliage.

Rosie, I've find out what's the problem. No need to shrunk the picture, I've just replace img tag with url one so anyone could see the picture if click on the link and it wouldn't save on your bandwith.
I sitll not able to see the pciture as I've got this message "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." probably there is some problem with the server and that's why I see no picture at your post(I firght thought that you forgot to post it).
I'll try later to see if the problem is resolved.

Denis, I'm so sorry you lost your plants in that horrible fashion.    I love to keep plants; have had one for over 10 years.    It keeps dying back and I keep resurrecting it!    I call it my "mother" plant.    But it's not a succulent.   I have no luck with them at all.    So gave up trying.
