How do you capitalize on Christmas or whatever you may call it?

Here's my banner idea:

Snowflakes and icicles are the more obvious connection like we have in the forum header.

I had some ideas which I'm not capable of implementing such as Santa hauling a sled loaded with goods you sell online as an animated graphic.

Snow White and the seven dwarfs clad in your designer cloths etc.

If you have the budget, I guess you can commission artists to produce the animated graphics.

yeah, I believe that goods which are presented in the Winter context would win vs those plain ones... at least when I see such examples on web they draw my attention(even simply present box with bells and amelia could do magic IMHO).

Thanks Andy! yesterday you've pushed me to create winter theme (actually it was done by Sveta not me Tongue Smiley ) for http://www.pharos-search.com/ and right now we're working on Winter Special discount, maybe that's really could make some boost in business.

Great!

Lately I've been trying to think "outside the box" of new ways to advertise things. Everybody does the same thing and you get armies of followers of the marketing gurus all copying each other, maybe they should be called replicants  Grin

Well done to Sveta, the graphic looks nice.

p.s. i would like to ad my bouncyurl.com url redirection service to your directory.

Thanks for compliments, I'll forward them to her.
Please also add bouncyurl.com and let me know when you'll be done so you shouldn't wait too long for approval.

Phew! I made it into the Pharos Directory   Cool

p.s. some ideas for driving traffic to any site:

I have been experimenting with traffic exchanges and found it easy to accumulate 100's of page-view credits. But, the trick is to get people to wake up from their clicking coma and pay attention to the page that you advertise.

Unlike normal web pages, you don't have to care about search engines and the page is only live for 20-30 seconds at a time. So you can use whacky animations, video, streaming audio or big images. Anything to grab attention and get people clicking on your page. I think the worst thing you can do is advertise replicating affiliate pages like most people seem to do.

I hope to post more on this subject as I understand this area of marketing more. There is a lot to consider like anti-cheat technology and how to get your ads displayed in abundance.
