For those of you that want more than IE offers but want to continue using the IE engine I recommend Maxthon from....
http://www.maxthon.com/

It really has most of the features that you can find in even Firefox but requires IE so it is like Avant and Slim Browser in that it is just an advanced interface for IE. However I have tried every one I could find and it is the best IMO. Very stable, intuitive and easy to configure.

I still prefer Avant over Maxthon, but that is largely due to being able to customize your own look in Avant as they have a free skinmaker program to compliment the browser.

Others I use or have used:

Green Browser - Easy on resources; not as good at ad blocking as others; has a cool feature which lets you resurrect a window you accidentally closed; small download; does not have to be installed, just unzip and put a shortcut on your desktop.

Acoo Browser - Aggressive popup and ad blocking, it will remove most ads. Constantly updated for bug fixes and improvements. Several versions ago, they added a feature not advertised. This feature checks with a site on the internet (I have the address in an email) for favicon updates. Even though I have been assured that is all that is happening, I am still not comfortable with the idea of a browser constantly accessing the web (it only does this when it is first opened), whether I want it to or not, without the ability to disable this feature. If they removed this feature, I would use the browser again, as I really like it, but I cannot recommend it with this feature intact; or, at least, without the ability to disable it.

FastStone Browser - Cool and fast. Does have an occasional tendency to hang on startup. Has a built-in http server and ftp client. Could use a dropdown favorites menu as favorites have to be opened in a panel on the left hand side of the browser. Has no built-in ad or popup blocking features.

All of the aforementioned browsers use a tabbed interface for allowing multiple windows to be opened at once.

You can create skins for Maxthon by just altering the skin.ini file and saving it as a new skin.
