The copyright area is a good place to link back to your home page if there was no convenient way to do it higher up in the page.

This may be when you want people to read your sales pitch and not find a way to easily go back to the home page. But you still want a link to the home page to avoid the search engine spider hitting a brick wall and leaving your site.
