I was just wondering if old posts were found by search engines?

If not, the material could be reproduced in the form of search engine optimized pages coupled with relevant ads to generate income.

This could feed the bunny rabbits etc.

I don't have an established forum, I was asking a question targeted to people who run forums.

Hi Andy! I've thought about this as well, but not because of posts which could not be presented in search engines  listing, but rather because of spiders which may still check them and put additional load to server. From this point of view having static pages is a good move, but I never seriously consider this since there is no critical load on forums. as for old posts I believe that it's not likely that they would be droped from listing if once they got there...
It's easy to check by taking text from some old post and searching for it in SE(can't do it myself right now since I'm writing from PDA now and GPRS cost quite a bit), but I'll try to do it later if noone check it before me.

Things said by Rosie proves that old posts aren't drop from listing as she's one of the veteran members of our community.
BTW here is other proof: just search for this phrase in Google: "Check our first poll "How much banners do we need?"" and see what you'll got in results... as you can see from the  post it's very first one and was made in times when forum was called Web Lamp Forum and was planned as addition to main site called Web Lamp Tongue

What I was thinking of is that you could make a spin-off site or sub-domain with ads to generate income. The old posts could be removed from the main forum and used in the archive "new area" that makes you some income after all your years of hard work building this up.

I understand that you don't want to introduce any ads on the main forum. If I was you, I would  Cool

thanks Andy! it's always good to know that people care and appreciate your efforts.
As for old posts I've fought about creating archive, so posts would be in separate board but still be accessible through search feature, also each thread would still be accessible through links in search engines as postID would still be the same(BTW if I move them to separate site, links from SE would be broken and if make a copy of them Google probably may drop one listing for duplicate content which isn't good thing as well).
It would be good to find some way of additional income especially if take into consideration my current financial state but I think it wouldn't worth to create separate site for this, anyway our community isn't big enough to split it into several sites.
