Hi everyone! Signing in from Alberta, Canada here.

I must admit that I am a total newbie at web-building so please bear with me!

I sure look forward to hanging around here and learning and asking questions.

Can I ask one favour to start with? Can someone check if my site loads up?

It works from my computer but my SIL tells me it doesn't work for her.
I am totally stumped at this point. Have no idea what to do or if it is just her computer???

Welcome to Webmaster Key Forum. Your site loads and the styling looks good to me but the design needs work.

Most of your content is in the way of images and since the search engines aren't able to read the information on an image then they don't see any content.

Your navigation requires way too much use of the back button. You should use text menus for moving from page to page and you should have them on every page. A reason for this is if you have a visitor that gets to your site from say a search engine and finds themselves in the middle of your site how do they get to your other pages if there is no menu.

You need to place your text in some kind of container like a table or use CSS and put margins and padding around it to keep it from spreading too much at high resolutions.

You have the makings of a good site and it is about something that can provide you with a lot of content. Also you seem to have some good styling sense. You just need to keep working on it. If I can be of any assistance please let me know as that is what my site is about helping people get started among other things.

Thanks for the comments about the site.  Definately will be working on fixing up those navigation and design issues. For now I am happy that it DOES load up! At least that gives me time to work on everything else! LOL

Hi and congratulations on publishing your first site! The start of a long journey begins with the first step, I hope you are not over whealmed with too much information too soon. The first thing I would recommend is to remember that "content is king" on the web. Most people want information, answers to questions, stuff to download etc. The appearance and "professional" look are of secondary importance to most people unless they are dealing with a corporate company.

Yes, I do feel a bit overwhelmed! LOL  But that's OK! But as you say one step at a time. That works for me!

My first step will be to fix up the navigation, as suggested.  I may end up with questions about that yet. 

So far I've been building this in FrontPage. Do you recommend this one?

Later I'll be working on the design angle and everything else.

I like to code and make my html look very neat and tidy for the search engines and personal pride. In the long run it seems to help with search engine results.
