STOP PROPERTY RIGHT VIOLATIONS
KELO VS. NEW LONDON

Yes, the government can now seize your property and give it to whoever they want to without regard to public use.

The petition says it all. We have got to put a stop to the violations of our Property rights in America. Stop by and sign it to let Congress know that you want your rights protected. Tell as many people as you can so we can put a stop to these violations against our 5th Amendment rights.

Call for Constitutional Amendment to overturn the decision of the Supreme Court in the matter of Kelo vs. New London and to protect American Citizens from future eminent domain violations

This is an outrage and against everthing we here in the US work hard for. I don't understand how they government can take persona propety away so a private party can build a business and get rich. This only permits the rich to get richer and the poor to just fall through the cracks again.

When I heard this, I couldn't belive the supreme court could permit this. But not only did they permit it, they encouraged it.

If this is going to be allowed, then why should we take the risk of buying property at all?

I don't condone this practice, but you should know it is a very common thing and has been going on legally for many many years and is not something new nor is this the first attempt to fight it. As far as how the supreme court can permit this and also encourage it. Well... this is very simple. It makes economic sense for the majority, which will always take precedence over the rights of individuals especially those with less money and power. Angry

This is sickening and wrong. It seems that the American government has reached a new level of pitifulness and lack of concern for private citizens. But apparently this has been going on for longer than I was aware...

I know it was happening in the late 1800's. I just don't know if it was approved by the court then.

No, THIS is new. Before they could take your land for roads and such. They have now given big business the right to come in, prove to the town/city/county/state that they will bring in money. Then the government can take your land so they can build a business park, shopping center or factory. This isn't imminent domain as we had known it. This is just sickening.

I understand that when a community grows, the infrastructure supporting that community needs to grow also. This was the limits of the old law. If the community needed to expand the roads, they would take you land. If they needed to  expand the rail system, they could take you land. This was to keep the communtiy growing with the people.

This, now, is just big business screwing the working people.
