If ONLY There Is NO IF

When we mentioned about advertising our
written or pre-written ads, we would often
consider to submit it to the general public.

However, that general public is meant
for young and mature adults and how
can we manage to get the attention of
the young and vibrant groups is entirely
a different approached altogether.

Especially when it comes to immersive
advertising ( Google results for
immersive advertising, click here!), consider
NeoPets.com.

NeoPets website is a virtual world where
members can own and play with pets in a
mythical land callled Neopia.

Registration and playing the game is free.

There are some 50 types of pets to adopt
and members can then embark on games
or buy and sell things to "grow" their pets.

It first hit the Internet in 1999 and was the
brainchild of two British college students.
A California research firm's CEO, Mr Doug
Dohring, saw its potential and bought the
site.

Over a million members and a recent tracking
reports showed that NeoPets is ranked No.2
in terms of time spent per person per month,
with the average user clocking over 6 hours
every month.

The site's main revenue comes from its innovative
role as an advertising medium ( Google results:
for advertising medium, click here!).

It does not have conventional Internet ads
such as banners or pop-ups. Instead, it uses
Immersive Advertising by designing entire
games surrounding its client's products.

An example: A home gardening website who
wants to promote "how to" make your home
looks like paradise garden, NeoPets devises
a game featuring forms of home gardening tools
and get members to find ways (using those tools)
to make a paradise like home garden.

Imagine in each of those tools, your home
gardening website is featured.....

This is an interesting thought. I always enjoyed Neopets because the advertisements were unobtrusive, and I could still enjoy myself with the sponsored games. I know it worked too, because I ended up renting several movies sponsored through Neopets. I no longer have time to play these days, but I really enjoyed it when I did. This type of marketing works great.

omg, the things they think of to keep us busy. We are a society that cannot amuse ourselves without some kind of technology.

<NOTE THE IRONY: I am on a computer (technology) amusing myself on a forum, commenting on our inability to amuse ourselves in other ways.>

Saying that, I shall now go and immerse myself in some REAL pet work and go and shampoo my dog Grin
