why don't you make rules similar to our forum? I mean that guests could read and answer in specified forums, but wouldn't be able to create threads and have to register to answer in forums which are at high abuse risk? This way you'll make search engines spider your pages and people could taste a bit your forum before registration? of course you can make more visitors if force them to register first, but I believe that no many of them would participate since they will find something what is no interest to them...

ive changed it back now so all sections can be read but they cant post without registering apart from the chillout lounge, forum requests and the hidden request to see sections where they have to register to see and post that should cut down any spammers but we dont ever get any apart from odd ones adding links in there profile so i just edit the urls to my own  Grin
i mainly closed the sections from view because of a sneek from another forum reporting everything that went on but i think thats sorted now so no real need to have them closed

the other downside of locking the forums all together is people have to register before knowing how good or bad the place is. This means you don't get good members, or you don't get members at all.

the main reason was to try and find out who the spy was  Grin so he had to sighn in but we still never found out Angry
mabe i should open the chillout lounge aswell because thats the best section for them to get a idea of what the forums like as in anything goes but they should join because of the fishing info not for how laid back everyone is

Well, people should be going for the fishing information, but they also want to know that it is a fun place to hang out. It is good to open all areas that show the personality of the site.

verry true il have a think about it as its the busiest section of the forum so it should pull in more members

another thing i was thinking about is when i added the seo mod thing it hides the bottom section of the forum so guests cant see the amount of members or anything like that. ive edited the lang files so ive got more keywords in use so do you think it would be beneficial for me to allow the footer to be shown to increase keywords?theres another 10 that would show up.

It could be helpful, but I would say your threads are the most powerful thing. The more keywords in your threads, the better you will rank.

the online mag will help a great deal. you can write it with the keywords you want and it is something that stays around, so you get rankings.
