Freeprofitsites.com - Yup, it sounded too good to be true.  And what about that Janice chick!  What a peasant!  I never talk about the ladies this way, but pardon me this time around.  Bad customer service for a company claiming to have been around for 7 years!  haha
Anyways, thanks for this message board!  It's a real eye opener!
Based on allwhois.com, website was registered January 25, 2005 with this billing address: 1442 52nd St, Los Angeles CA 90001.  Also confirmed email of websiteassistant@hotmail.com through allwhois.com website.  A reverse look-up with 411.com shows a James Thomas living at 1442 W 52nd St, Los Angeles CA 90062.  Addresses a bit different ("W" and "Zip Code").  Telephone number for James Thomas is (323) 296-5344.
Anybody want to call him to see if he's involved?  hahaha
Anyways, cheers everybody and hopefully you didn't lose too much money.  I didn't...  Caught it on time.

freeprofit sites is a joke! I did think that it may be to good to be true, but I am in a bit of a pickle financially so I thought I would give it a try. At fist of course they answered all my questions, gave me hope and kept me going.  But as soon as I started having concerns as to why first paypal was not working and then stormpay they stopped answering my emails.  Then when they finally did respond, I was told I must have a problem with my email accounts. huh?Huh

So I filed a complaint with paypal and this is the response I received, it is actually quite amusing.

"You have claimed that your order was not received or received not as described. I have collected proof of delivery and evidence that proves you are lying. The evidence proves that you received everything exactly as described. Your claim is fraudulent, illegal, and will not be tolerated.

If you continue with your lies I will take action against you. I will expose you by providing the evidence to PayPal. I will provide sufficient evidence so that they have no choice but to close your account immediately and permanently. So far, 86% of all accounts have been closed after I reported and proved an illegal chargeback. I will have you blacklisted immediately so that you are no longer able to operate online. You will be blacklisted by almost 150 different auction websites, online shopping stores, and payment processors. I will contact the sellers and have them leave negative feedback against you so that other honest people are not scammed by you. I will report your illegal chargeback to your credit card company. So far, 92% of all credit card accounts have been permanently closed after I reported and proved an illegal chargeback. I will file your illegal chargeback with the three major credit reporting agencies. With this illegal chargeback on your credit profile you will not be approved for credit cards or loans and your interest and insurance rates will increase due to your negative credit rating. I will have our attorney begin legal action against you first thing in the morning. You will be subpoenaed and commanded to attend court in our local jurisdiction. We will be filing suit for the price of the website, plus damages, plus the cost of all legal fees, expenses, etc. Your fraudulent claims and your attempts at theft will definitely not be tolerated. What you are doing is illegal and you will be exposed and you will pay for your actions.

You need to retract your lies, admit the truth, and ask very politely for forgiveness and understanding in this matter. This is the only way you will be able to solve the problem you have created for yourself. This email is the only warning you will receive and this is your only opportunity. I will give you one hour to respond before I take any action against you. You should consider yourself very lucky that I have taken the time and shown the courtesy of providing you with this warning.

I do understand that you would like a refund but you are not handling this situation in the correct manner. If you would like to reconsider your false claims and admit that you did in fact receive everything exactly as described no action will be taken against you. I will also consider providing you with a new website or service of your choice or a complete refund.

I have already composed a letter to PayPal but I have not yet sent it. Out of respect for you, and to protect you and your accounts, I will not send the letter until I have received a response from you. I will also refrain from contacting my personal Account Manager until I have heard from you. I do want to give you the chance to save yourself. Please respond as quickly as possible. Please do the correct thing so I can properly assist you.

You will first need to admit to me that you did in fact receive everything exactly as described. You will then need to send a statement to PayPal explaining that you received everything exactly as described. You will need to cancel the dispute regarding this transaction. I recommend telling them that you were thinking about a different transaction and you made an honest mistake. Your accounts will then remain safe and active. As soon as your dispute has been cancelled I will delete the letter that I have composed.

Janice"

I am trying them. You get around 10-15% of profits on each sales. I did a test sale and it's working, even the charge back Wink . You really have to rpomote them and there is work to be done to update the site, etc...They seem ligit so far, and the risk 50$ a year, is quite minimal. That said he has 2-3 banners on your site, which i think is reasonnable.

For the record,  Freeprofitsites.com,  best-site-host.com and  lilhost.com are all rip offs. They Do promise the world BUT...Never deliver! and if you ask questions, they stop responding to your emails and tell you are rude. Especially "Janice" !! When I questioned their customer service practices, She told me "You are rude. I will not answer any more of your emails"

They advertise storefronts designed by Vstore.com. Ordinarily, this would not be a problem, but I just received confirmation from Vstore.com that it is against their policy for ANYONE to sell these websites! They give them for Free. Free Hosting too. Here is where the kicker comes in...you actually have to Promote your own site! Yeah, that's right, do some work. (But this actually Does work and Vstore.com is very reputable!)

I am filing a formal complaint with the FBI and the Internet Fraud Division. These people that sell these sites need to be stopped!

If you have a site from any of these, GET RID OF IT FAST! or you may be held liable for copyright infringements from Vstore.com

Also - and this is Important !!  FILE A COMPLAINT !!! File it with the FBI and Internet Fraud Unit, The FTC and BBB.  This may be the only way to stop these people!! I lost big $$$ to them in thinking it was Ok...It is a SCAM !!!

 File a Complaint !!! Today!!!

And post a notice like this on every message board on the internet! Let everyone know they are a Scam !!!

Thanks for letting me vent !!

Boy am I glad I stumbled onto this website!  I, too, fell for FreeProfitSites.com.  I signed up on March 7, 2005 and am cancelling immediately.  Does anyone know of a way to get our money back?  Can you say, "Class Action Lawsuit"? That's what I'm thinking if enough people got conned.  This has GOT to be illegal.  Any thoughts or info. regarding this would be GREATLY appreciated, as I'm a newbie here.

Warm regards,

BW Smiley

the site I purchased from was actually http://www.GuaranteedIncomeSites.com otherwise known as www.Profit-Sites.com or http://www.automatic-websites.com/ and Im sure there are many others. I have lodged complaints with the Better Business Bureau and Square Trade which they have logos for on their sites and dont even exist with these companies which is fraud and a breach of the copyright act as they cant use these logos legally. I requested a refund only to receive this reply

I would like a refund
-----As you know, once a website has been completed we can not provide any
refunds or exchanges. This is because the website has already been
customized for the new owner and the owner is in possession of the
completed website. We have also already paid for the hosting and
promotional services for the website. You can however take advantage of
the one year guarantee if you need to do so.

Genevieve
I have also lodged a chargeback with paypal who processed my order.

Here are links to some of the government agencies with which you can file reports.

Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
US Department Of Justice (USDOJ)
Consumer Sentinel
Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC)
National Fraud Information Center (NFIC)
http://washingtondc.fbi.gov/contact.htm
I have lodged complaints with these agencies and awaiting outcomes.. Anyone who reads this should do the same ....

From what history has shown me, getting a refund from companies that are solely out there to rip you off is close to impossible.  Someone here mentioned a class action lawsuit.  It definately sounds like there are enough people out there who have gotten ripped off by these people, so I suppose that would be possible.  The only way to find out for sure would be to contact a lawyer.

Good news is that if anyone does a Google search before buying, they will see this:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=lilhost+&btnG=Google+Search

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=FreeProfitSites&btnG=Search

So, hopefully, people will get some warning before signing up
