I was just looking for some tools to assist in assembling panorama photos under Linux and found a site with a list of such programs and plugins for GIMP. so I decide to share it here, maybe someone would find it useful as well:

after a bit researching andtrying few programs I've finally found programs which fit my needs ideally, it's called Hugin - http://hugin.sourceforge.net/
for those interested in results here is quick sample, this is panorama stitched with Hugin, you can see on it mountain Ai-Petri(it's the highest point of the Crimean peninsula) from the Yalta.
Image size is around 700kb.

please take close attention to clouds, they are moved really fast(we were approx 1,545m aboe sea level and there was strong wind, some clouds was above us and moved really quickly and some were below and moved slowly), so actually they didn't match in other panorama programs(at least at those which I've tried, including those under Windows) I would have to move them manually in GIMP or PS in order to get these images to match each other, but Hugin did great job automatically, I couldn't find out where and how clouds were stitched Wink
PS I've resized image a bit in order to save my bandwidth, original one in height is 1700 pixels, this one is only 800.
