Hi all,
This is my first post. I was wondering if the name of your domain name can make a difference to the search results in say google. For example,

Say my site domain name is www.bikerepairs.com. Also lets presume there are another 1000 or so sites out there that also offer bike repairs as the central focus of their site.

If a person is searching through google using the key words "bike" and "repairs" would the site with the domain name www.bikerepairs.com have more chance of rating higher?

Any idea?

Only if the domain name words are seperated with hyphens, like www.bike-repairs.com. With www.bikerepairs.com, the search engine only sees one word. Your users might remember www.bikerepairs.com more easily, but www.bike-repairs.com is much better for ranking.

I have not noticed that making a difference recently. I guess for some search terms it might still, but not for my vertical.

Google adjusted their SE preferences again, didn't they? I know at one point it was helpful, but it wouldn't surprise me if it no longer works.

I am not seeing it help or hurt, but then again, my vertical is usually different than most others.

With Google, their most important parameter is the title text. The domain name seems to have little importance. So unless you have a very competitive search term you probably don't have to care what your domain name is.

I've seen a boost in some industries as long as the domain keywords are carried throughout the site.

Healthcare/Medical. When two similar theme websites were developed and published, the "keyword domains" ranked faster, higher and got out of the sandbox earlier.
