Just something small here. But I personally do not like getting notified every time someone replies to a topic that either i posted or responded in. It keeps subscribing me to topics and I don't want it to. I have it set in my profile to not email me when someone responds, and i never check the notify me of replies in the additional options. But every time i get notified of replies for some reason. I am thinking it seems to happen more when i use the quick reply.

I don't care to get notified, i'll see the post when i come over here once or twice a day on my own, it just clutters up my already cluttered inbox(thanks to my email happy client who likes to tell me about some wild idea he has every day)

Is there anyway you can make it quit sending me these?

Greg, that was me, sorry Tongue I've played with settings... I'll make note that you don't wish to be subscribed and would try to set that you wouldn't be subscribed even if we ever reset settings for the board.

Denis, I feel the same. I post so a lot here. Some days it seems I get more emails from here than anywhere else. Can we have a way to turn it off ourselves? Some of these I might want notification on, but most I don't care about.

Is there a way to have it automatically set to 'off', and any members that want notifications can set it 'on' in the future? Maybe that's not a good idea, but I think most people prefer having it off (I know I do).

okay, I promise from now do not reset database to ON, just turn it off in the profile and it wouldn't change anymore. The only other way it could be changed automatically if you switch to other template.
The reason I've make it default that when I had this settings on in the past people return much faster to answer the threads...
that was the reason I've played with settings to make all new members have it enabled by default. sorry about problems it caused.

I don't mind them Denis, for the above reason.
It is easier to delete them than miss out on something.....the bad goes with the good, it is part of it.
I guess if you are very busy or have a restricted 'inbox' if may be a pain.....but I am fortunate enough not to.

For me it is a matter of getting too many emails. I have an average of 200 emails a day. Many are spam, many are inquiries and many are personal. Then I get the added 3-10 a day from here. It just gets to be too much.

Heidi, I see why you had problem with getting extra mails and perfectly understand you. I should think about this in advance... Undecided

It wasn't the end of the world by any means, but it was a bit bothersome. I appreciate you turning it off.

just wish to let you know that after upgrade to new version of SMF I've reset notification settings.
I've disable notifications manually for Rachel, Greg and Heidi(if you wish to get on this list so in future if I resent notifications they wouldn't be reset for your account, simply leave message in this thread). If you don't wish to be subscribed to the topics you're posting please change corresponding settings in the notification area.
