I went back to try Banner Advertizing on a 1:1 basis of them displaying my ads in exchange for them showing their ads. But I am clocking up credits way faster than they can reciprocate at around an 80:1 ratio so it doesn't seem feasible for me to utilise this service effectively.

Can anyone explain by example a usefull banner exchange service? I want to quickly and easily serve targeted banner ads with 1:1 exchange ratio that can keep pace with my traffic.

Andy it sounds like you have far more traffic than a free program had assist you with. You might consider selling ad space on your site, then use the revenue to purchase traffic for your site.

I've tries some traffic boosters myself, Trafficswarm and trafficg. Unfortunatelly I was doing more job then they.
I'd say you should focus on the promotion YOU can make yourself. Sigs in forums, search engines, good content and a lot of work, these would be the key. I can't afford to pay for any traffic and I try to get visitors in the "normal" way. If you've got some serious stuff to offer, your site won't ever be alone Wink

Thanks for the feedback. The main reason I went back to it was for stats to use in an ebook I was planning to publish.  But it seems like this angle is flawed.

Personally I feel that some banner exchanges are truly a waste of time. I have found you accomplish more doing your own website promotion yourself. Traditional methods still work. Newspaper and magazine ads, business cards, word of mouth, flyers, etc. Having good content and keeping your site updated regularly. In addition ensure that you sight is aesthetically pleasing, avoid that "built by a novice look".
Above all be patient. Rome was not built in a day. It takes a while for your promotion attempts to take effect.

Hi Lordzenn,

your advice doesn't seem to be working for yourself. Your Google PR is only 3 and your alexa traffic rank is nonexistent.

I quickly spotted some major problems with your site:

  • Your title tag doesn't have any effective keywords - they are too common or not searched-for
  • Your page does not show any useful content unless people scroll down the page, which they won't do
  • Your center column does not effectively sell your USP
  • None of your links seem to be to normal pages in your site

To start correcting these problems, I suggest you delete the linkexchange banner at the top of the page, then reduce the height of your logo by ~50% This would bring your content area into public view.
