This logo is for a hosting company named, as you can see, envyo.
This is the old logo:

... and this is the new logo:

What logo do you think is better and why?

my mistake ... a logo without a content is not telling to much. Take by example a logo of a big known company like IBM or AOL; if you didn't know about what this companies are doing the logo viewed alone is not telling anything.

there both good but i feel the botom one is abit better becuase it looks more clean and clear but if you wanted a logo to be distinctivly reconised for the top one becuase you wouldnt have to have the company name underneath becuase the logo would try to distinguish itself but i suppose the other one is a logo but its there company name 2 so the bottom one:D

have to agree with what Karl have said, but I would probably try to use font which you have used in the first logo, it could help IMHO(I could be wrong).

I prefer the colouring in the first one, but the design in the second one is better. I do feel as if both are a bit empty. They also tend to have the appearance of "cookie cutter" logos. Somehow I feel I've seen them many times...

I think that the logo I was comparing yours to was the Ravio.com logo. It had very similar coloured blocks connecting to each other.

I think, what you need... Is an emblem that might represent your hosting company. Like  a server or something that represented internet/technology.

I understand the idea behind a simple logo, but for a small business, I think there are better alternatives.

I totally agree ... but a server in my logo looks very unprofessional, in my opinion. I'm looking forward to create a new logo ... wish me luck Smiley
can you provide me a link for ravio.com .... 'cause www.ravio.com it's not working for me.

Ravio.com is no longer running... The story is that the web design company took more orders than they could handle, and never refunded the incomplete ones. I used to have a screenshot of their site, but I can't find it anywhere. Looks like Google doesn't have any images either.

You know, when I'm working on a logo.. I usually like to visit logo designer sites for ideas. Even though you might not take from their ideas on emblems or shapes, they still help with placement, size, and colouring.

As far as the actual server is concerned, I wouldn't use an actual photo or complex design. I would try something very simple, with maybe one or two colours and very little detail. Then you can stick an 'e' in it or something.

I'm sure you'll work something out. Don't ditch your first two ideas, but if you're unsatisfied keep playing around with them until you find something that works. I'm sure you already know this, but I always like to hear about it from someone else.

Please show us your newer examples when they're ready. I look forward to seeing them.

Try www.archive.org and type their URL into the Way Back Machine and see if their old site is there, all mine are from way to 1999.

Tommy, smart idea! I've been looking all over the web for a copy of their design, and completely forgot to check the archives.

So sorry to hear that... We are glad to have you actively participating here, however Smiley
My guestbook got hacked ages ago, and I took it down completely and have never made another one. I don't understand the point of defacing the property of others, just because you can. I guess that's what we get for having insecure guestbooks and forums.
