I personally use about 3 affiliates now. But I use Domain Hop now instead and I make more money per year. Of course now I own over 400 domain names too, so there is another cost. ROi is what it's all about in my book.

Hi Oodale,

I tried adwords where you can promote domain names and not worry about search engines. But I don't like it since it costs a lot of money and you are continually monitored and critized on your listings. I find building websites much more cost effective, fun and enjoy the continuous free traffic.

Since you have 400+ domain names I think you are relying on a few hits from many to get sales. But, this idea is crazy and no fun I suspect. Since you only target 3 affiliate programs, you could build a keyword-focussed content site around 1 url and feed the search engines what they want and save yourself a fortune on domain names. Google for instance likes related content pages and hates doorway pages.

The ROI (Return On Investment) of a successful site can be crazy, like it can even be free to get hosting or less than $50 pa (per year) but you might make at least $100 per month on a reasonably successfull affiliate site and it keeps working, even when you lose interest.

Maybe you can share your method of success here?

The only way to really make money in this business is to be lucky or be in favor with your creator.

By 3 affliates I meant 3 companies, like Adsense, netreporting, linkshare, Harley-Davidson T-Shirts and Buckles from the Sturgis Bike Week Rallys. But the real oney is to build a website for someone and then take care of it for them by the hour. You will pull some hair out that way trying to please all these newbies and you will get no respect, but it's a living. eh?
