WoW. A shark attack.
I don't mind watching sharks on TV, but wouldn't want to have to swim with one.

Front page news on our local paper, Sharks in our canals (man made bodies of water), behind peoples homes. One of the dangers if you live near the water.
Remember, far more people drown in on our beaches than get attacked by sharks. Its our holiday season here so we hope our tourists and locals stay safe.

Chris, some day I've seen on TV that there are many measures are taken in Australlia in order to protect beaches form the sharks, such as setting nets around the beaches and ultrasound devices which scare out sharks, is that didn't help?

Sure, it helps, but there thousands of kilometres of beach. Most of it un-patrolled and un-protected Sad
Something to remember, we are in their (the sharks) world! They are just looking for a feed.

A couple of summers ago there were a lot of shark attacks here in the States. It was during the summer and all the attacks happened a dusk or dawn when the sharks were feeding in shallow waters. It caused quite a panic here.  As visitors to the shark's homes, we need to remember they live there. We need to be aware of them and about shark safety.

It sounds like this shark attacked the person thinking it was a fish. They were on a board being towed by a boat. From the sharks point of view I am sure it looked like a great feast. It is a shame it was a person and not a fish.

It is very unusual for sharks to attack humans as they don't like the way we taste. When it happens, we need to remember they are not a mean and terrible as they seem. They are one of the oldest species on this planet. They have survived because they do one thing very well, they hunt. Just stay out of their hunting grounds and you are ok.
