Hi I have the domain http://www.sputnikradio.com

as you can see theres not much there. Im not much of a designer plus i dont have time

I have a really good server with pretty much unlimited bandwith and as much storage as i could ever want for now.

plus my server has tons of tools php sql blah blah blah , fantasticio what not stuff .

what i need is advice on content management ive checked out a couple of the canned php thingys but i am not sure if it what i need for my purpose.

i wish to have an independent music artist site like soundclick.com or funender.com something like that . A web community where artist log in get a user id password have thier own page upload or link their music graphics and all even have a download ranking system or listener ranking system and the most popular artist are ranked higher up or they can pay for higher rankings or what not also wish to have it where they can become premium members all that stuff.  also would like for it to randomly stream cast music from the indie artist on different genre stations and all.

my question is does anyone out there know of any canned sites or content management system that can be installed on my server and all i have to do is customize it? I really dont have the skill nor time to do all that stuff alone by myself. I am thinking of paying someone a few hundred bucks if they can do it for me maybe. I would first like to know what my options are.

any info from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Sputnik,

The best place to go to find the tools you need for CMS is at http://www.hotscripts.com Look in the php section under Script and Programs for content management and you should find something to fit your needs.

We also have many scripts that might fit what you need. We will check our list and see if we have anything that would fit your needs.

One thing you should keep in mind though. You state that you don't have time to design your site. There are many designers on the web that are well qualified to design your dite for you including creating a custom content management system for you. You would obviously have to pay for their services and that includes our services if you would want us to do it for you.

Another thing to remember is that a web site is never finished. You should always be working on it to add new content, make changes to get better positioning in the search engines and marketing and advertising your site. This is all an ongoing process that never ends. Especially if you want your site to be useful and productive.

One of the things that the search engines love is content. Content is king! Another is usefulness and informative. There are many things that go into promoting a site and making a success out of it.

As mentioned, we will take look in our scripts archive and see if we have anything that you can use as well. Pm us if you have any other questions. Smiley

Go to this page to get started. The top link will help you test out CMS (content mangement systems) before installing them. They are all free (GPL licensed) and of a high caliber.

The actual CMS listed below the first link are the ones I recommend and/or use.
If you have any questions let me know.

Good luck.

I would suggest you take a look at www.e107.org
I use that CMS on my site www.beersavvy.com
It is very easy to customise to meet your needs.

I've had good results with Php Nuke. I've also tried Xoops, Mambo, Enigma, E107 .. tested locally of course. They are all OK, although they slightly differ. I would advise you to go to hotscripts ... i also go there for "shopping" and look around for CMS. Test them locally, play in the admin panel and try to mod the theme. A good CMS should be customizable as you want Wink
