This critically endangered species is dying out

Hello, recently have acquired a small fish tank, and here are the inhabitants Grin  Anybody ever seen a yabbie? Aren't they a gorgeous colour, also very comical little creatures to sit for a few minutes and watch. As you can guess the bigger occupants are simply rather well-fed goldfish...My dog Lucky likes to sit and watch the fish tank activity, somehow it seems to fascinate him?Huh Undecided Grin Grin

Sorry, I haven't had time to respond.

A yabbie is a crawfish. Yum, dinner. Oh, I am sorry, did I say that out loud? I need to stop doing that.

It would be that beautiful blue crayfish you posted first. They are a very interesting species to watch. I love fish and tanks. I do not have one now, but am going to get one set up again soon. THey are very soothing to me.

Remember as a kid, tieing bits of meat to the end of a string and catching yabbies in the local creek Smiley  Yummy Wink
Never really thought of them as a pet !!  Remember them being black.

YES Hope, that's it...... Shocked  Didn' t know they had them Stateside though......It was also the little blue crayfish in the corner of the 'fishtank' .jpg just to show the size of it......anyway, there were two in there, and one ate the other one. Shocked  glad I didn't see it though, and here's me expecting at $14 per pop that they would breed........LOL  Never mind!!! Grin  Things we learn about nature teaches us a lesson I guess.
Also Chris, yes, I've seen them and have caught them and used them as bait to put on the end of the line for fishing, from the beach in the evening (just before sunset) up at Tweed Heads a couple of times with friends....We had a set of rules.......If we caught no fish...............we ate the yabbies LOL Grin
