I am sure the price of the domain is just a ploy to get you to sign up for other services that cost. That is where they make their money.

Someone told me that globat will try to sign you up for webhosting once you register your domain.
By the way is it possible that they would charge you 14$ for example at renewal?

I dunno I haven't had a domain with globat / domainsarefree.com for a year, but I assume it would renew at $3.99 I'm sure you could e-mail them and ask.

I am sure they are going to offer you hosting. That is usually how these things work. They make their money on hosting, website developement or email services.

They may charge you the "full" prince when you have to renew. I am not sure. I would suggest you asking. Then again, if it is in your name, you can transfer the domain to any registrar and renew it there for whatever their price is.

True.
I have read on a forum that someone registered a domain with a company affiliated with IPowweb for the 1st year with 5.99$, the next year they charged him 20$.
Maybe Globat uses the same technique.

I also think the price 8 bucks a year is very resonable. I remember the times when domains were like 30 bucks and the price of 13,99 that I found at some 123cheapdomains or sort of that was crazy. now people look for some $1 or $3 YEAR! It is more crazy now Smiley
