This critically endangered species is dying out

WWW
« on: October 12, 2004, 01:37:28 AM »

I feel very saddened on hearing of the death of Christopher Reeves of a heart attack at the age of 52.

A mighty man who bought to world attention the situation of the paraplegics and (god only knows) how they cope. A man who was Superman in the movies and out of them, a Superman in extreme confinement, suddenly at the age of 42, but always thinking positive.  He was a role model for many, and he will, I feel sure, by some, be sorely missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.....

It is a serious loss for many reasons. One reason is because he showed the world that being a parapelegic wasn't the end of the world. He lived a great life after the accedent. He didn't hide from the world and he didn't complain. He learned to cope and showed others that they can do. He did a lot for the advancement of spinal cord injuries. He was at the forfront of the battle for more stemcell research. He was an amazing man. He was a very talented man.

In Australia, stem cell research was virtually championed solely by Mr Reeves. Everyone who met him here spoke of him in the highest regard. His inroads into this work will be sorely missed.

In a touching tribute (or is that cashing in on ratings) one of our TV channels is showing the original Christopher Reeves Superman movie on Friday.

No RaGe, I believe it to be a tribute..... Cool  Channel 10?  Yeah, any tribute, (for which ever people  liked that particular person) would maybe lift ratings but they can flop again.....looking across the average.......Its all viewers choice... Tongue
