Yes it was really interesting. I didn't expect Eastern Europe to be so advanced in development of the countries. For example, there are many electricity-producing wind turbines and nice cars. The public transport is excellent with the trams. We were warned about pick pockets but I found it to be a very safe place. The architecture and history are very interseting.

The berlin wall (how hard to climb), Auswitz (not featured in the photos but incredible efficient mass slauter of innocent human beings), the Jewish gettos (people gassed as they tried to escape in sewers) and the way large areas of cities were destroyed and rebuilt, the huge numbers of people that were killed in these beautifull places. I feel very lucky to live in a safe area. In in the UK we have children driving people to suicide in their own streets by attacking them and their homes mostly in the North East and Wales. The saying in UK property investment is "Location Location Location", never before has this been more true.

I was particularly amazed by the number of Macdonalds hamburger outlets I spotted, even in Slovakia. Macdonalds are obviously seeing Eastern Europe as a big business opportunity. I heard that some people judge a countries cost  by the BigMac Index, like a global indicator of a standard price product.

Yes, sorry for the late relpy, the mine photos are from the underground salt mines in Wieliczka, Poland near Krakow. It was really difficult to take the pics since it was dark. Also you have to pay extra money to take photos. These are the pics, there are no close-ups.

As regards my favorite place: this was a new experience so it's not fair to select one above another. Each place had interesting features. Anywhere you go that you never visited before should be interesting.

Thats brilliant that you knew that, simply from those pictures.....

Also, I found the pics very very interesting Cheesy  My favourite place is Canada......As you say though, any NEW place can be interesting.....but I generally feel more comfortable in the pre-visited ones, also from friends made there....But truly find your mines mind absorbing...still would like to see close- ups though. Thanks for the great comments. You will not see these pictures anywhere else! If you need closeups, you will have to fly to Germany, travel overland to Poland sereveral hundred miles. Go underground with state-of-the-art camera gear and take some shots. It should give you some change out of $4,000

Clicking in the pic of the gallery expands it in case you didn't realise.
