Someone told me Windows 95 was the only one that had DOS in it (I mean originally) so that if you have one now, it could be worth a lot of money...or will be in the future, so hang on to it..becaseu they don't make them like that any more. Undecided

hehe DOS would be worth a lot of money? I doubt but who know maybe I'm wrong, so if you see that someone in Ozz wishing to pay a lot of money for DOS give us a tip, maybe we could make small fortune on this Grin
actually if I remeber correctly Windows 95 and 98 as well also have a lot of DOS utilities in it stored in folder X:\Windows\Command(or something like this) only with Win2k they stop booting from DOS and make Windows real OS and not just a shell over the DOS system like it was in Win 3.1, Win95 and so on.
Also why someone need DOS? If you like to type commands go Linux it will provide you with functionality you couldn't even think of in Dos... it will be free and once you become bored you could always start to usel X system(it's GUI interface for Linux, analog of Win 3.1 or something like this).

Anyway I'm not really sure why someone should back to console from GUI... and don't know why prices on the Dos should raise... many companies with the time make obsolete products available for downloading for free maybe Microsoft will do this one day as well...

Well, 95 and 98 are DOS based... I believe the last service for 98 used dos 8.1... but I'm not sure about the version.
2000 and XP are NT based... you still have a dos prompt... like DOS emulation I guess... I'm not sure wy on earth anyone owuld want to use it... I cant imagine why anyone would want to use dos at all.... but I don't know everyone's minds, or their purposes...

As for computers being solely for the internet.... that's slightly innaccurate, but slightly true also...
it's all about information. If you think about it, computers are completely stupid. The most handicapped people are smarter than computers... however, I don't know of any people tat have ever existed that were faster, and/or more accurate/precise, and have such perfect, unbiased memories. That's why they're so useful...  but since they aren't intelligent, they can only be used for information handelling.  Hense the job genre named "information tecnology". Anyways, it's all about information, and the internet is pretty much all about information, and since computers are so perfect for storing information, it just all fits together. So, it's more like computers are for information, and the internet is just anoter conduit for handelling information... as are network databases, and local databases, and files... etc...

So yeah.... there it is.
