Hi,

I want to make a website targeting high body mass people of the world.

What I need to understand is what terms best describe these people in the kindest way. I'm trying to avoid the "F**" word.

Also what products are they searching for that they can't find.

Any ideas?

As far as non-offensive terms go, the only ones that come to mind are "overweight" and "obesity/obese".

Thanks for these ideas.

I was thinking about "enhanced body mass" but I may be a bit ahead of current trends.

To me, obese sounds too much like a disease which it may well be.

Extreme plus-sized mega body reduction program for big, large, heavy people might be best.

Sorry for my last post, it may be offensive to some people. I am committed to making a usefull site for the heavy people of this world who want to get fit and a good body shape like my wife and I did.

Men and Women get yourselves ready to partake in the Ninja Weightloss Program. Stealthy weightloss that works without gimmicks and embarassment.

my post it's not really related to question but it could be useful for you since you building site about weightloss...
I see problem in almost all methods(including sites) of loosing weight is that nothing actually force you to do this, only your strong will and good motivation, if you don't have both or have just motivation but no strong will, most likely is that you'll fail after some time of excersises and diets... (at least this is my point of view as I'm familliar with this problem as well Undecided ). So I'm not sure how exactly you could solve this problem but probably if you really wish to help your visitors you should bring some interactivity... maybe forums(possibly closed ones, which is visible for members only) so you and other people could create feeling of community which certanly would help to some of people to stay on the good tracks and loose their weight. ok that was just my 2 cents Smiley

Good thought, Denis. Sometimes it is not enough to be motivated by yourself alone. A forum may be useful to those feeling discouraged, or unsure about certain exercises.

Beachbody.com has a message board as well as a membership area where users can talk to each other before and after the workout (for encouragement from real people, not just a TV screen). I think these are useful, but I am not sure how far you are going to take your program... So it's just a thought.

These are some good suggestions,

I already thought that a forum would be usefull and as you people suggest, a closed one is probably better to develop relationships and support - thanks.

So if I have a closed forum, how do I get the right people involved and shut out time-wasters? One way is to charge a fee, maybe this is the only way?

There will be some special diets based on far eastern principles and modified to the West. Also there will be encouragement to exercise. Additionally, I will use motivational techniques I've learn't to mobilize people to take action and continue with the program.

I'm not sure but guess that fee would scare out people... (maybe it's nosense and I'm wrong). Maybe you should think about some kind of system when people pay you money which would stay with you until they are participating on community, if they ever wish to go away(and they didn't make any troubles) they would get them... in other case money is left to you. Sounds like a court system but that's what come to my head.
Or maybe you should make two kind of memebership paid one and free, paid folks would get access to more boards which is invisible to the rest of members....

Thanks for the ideas!

I can probably offer the stuff for free at first and get Google adwords to pay for the upkeep and once it is established with high traffic and regular users, the options are open as to how to cash in e.g. sell the site, include ads, market products.

p.s. did anyone ever sell their website? I built http://www.readingfreeads.co.uk with this idea in mind. Now it is working as planned. Maybe time to sell on Ebay???

I knew one person who made business on developing sites and later selling them on Ebay, from what I know it could bring some money, but from what I know your site is also give you some stable profit, and if so why would you wish to exchange this profit for one time fee?(maybe it's just me but I prefer stable small stream of money over one time fee)

Hey Andy

My sister is WAY overweight and she knows it.  She got a blood clot a year or so ago in her knee, as well as 6 months ago got diagnosed with Diabetes.

Her favorite, none offencive term is....... "Not Fat.....Fluffy"

She has now lost 60 pounds, she finally kicked chocolate out of here diet.

Oh and you know how pets take after their owner, her cat died in Febuary, of a heart attack due to being too large.  The cat would not fit in a cat carrier, it had to go in a mid-size dog carrier.

The latest plan is to post free recipes and diet and exercise stuff. Here's the first of the free information! :-

On motivation, this is one topic that I plan to hit hard since I am good at motivating myself.

Next there will be recipies and then my motivational techniques.

Pleas would you extend my congratulations to your sister......I was a chocoholic at one stage and just put on soooooo  many pounds.
I accidently managed to kick it when away for a weekend there was no chocolate, and started hoeing into tuna salmon sandwiches....it was getting into the protein which after a day or two stopped my incessant craving for chocs.etc....the pounds starting also to disappear with a couple of weeks.....so many congrats to your sister...
