Hello all,

I am a new member. Just introduced myself in the new members.
I am in final year college in India.
We run an ecard shop- www.greetingstudio.com
Now here, we sell flash ecards to webmasters for their
ecard websites. My brother, 17 designs the ecards.
Now its 2-3 months since we are on it, but scouting new
clients is proving to be very difficult. We are in India,
so contacting buyers in US - we do by email.

Now if we send unsolicited email, it is considered spam.
There is no use putting banners since the cards are for
webmasters and not for general public. We need ideas
to market our ecards. Search engines and all will cost lot of
money to get a high ranking.

Can anyone give us ideas to get new clients. It will be very
helpful.

ALthough Search engine promotion costs a lot of money, time & effort i think it's the #1 marketing strategy today. So just go for it. And onething is that it can cost you a little or not at all if you do it all yourself & properly.   Wink

Thank you Keith. I understand what you say. But it's like, our's is not a plain ecard site, we sell ecards. And in search engines, we have categories of only egreetings sites and even those run in thousands. If we try search engine promotion, our name won't even appear in the top 100. Can you give any advice.

Is there any other way to market a site, other than mailing people, putting messages in forums, search engine promotion, banners? Any other unique idea, does anyone have in mind? It will be great to discuss.

You’re in a very competitive business. Most are looking for free ecards but of course if you have an exceptional product that’s unique you will undoubtedly generate sales. The trick is going to be getting your site high in the search engine results. A good linking campaign and optimization of your site can do this but it will take time. Ask directories to make a topic for your service and not to place you in with the thousands of free services. Many good directories will gladly accommodate your request.

Search Engine Optimization Professional “SEO”. Somebody who can work with you in developing your site to obtain top positions in the search engines. They are not cheap but your return on the investment can be considerable if you obtain top position is such a competitive market.

Where do we find SEOs? Right now we cannot afford spending on search engines or any such services. So that is a problem. Any other ways of promotion?

SEO are also people so sometimes they promotional jobs or could exchange with you some services possibly so maybe you shouldn't put SEO out from your list?
As for other promotion ways it depends from your site and what services do you offer. Should also tell that sometimes word of mouth act much more effective than SE.

I agree with your word of mouth idea. But it's like we are selling ecards only to webmasters, so we want to reach out only in places where webmasters come. Thats why we think search engines aren't so useful for us. We started exchanging links. This seems to be a good idea too. Can you suggest more ways to reach out to webmasters.

I don't think an SEO will be of that much use to you. I know I can get you listed, but the peope you want might not find you iwth the rest of hte egreeting sites out there. Search Engines are not the best option for you. You need to find webmasters, not end users.

Webmaster hang out in forums. Try buying ad space on forums.

Can you suggest webmaster resource sites please, where we may get egreeting webmasters. We are on a very tight budget and therefore unable to spend on ad-space or any such thing. That's why we thought , we should ask you people, who are experts.

I do not know of any. I know there are hundreds if not thousands of places out there though. I do not use wemaster resources, nor do I have any to offer, so I have not looked for such sites in years.

If someone else can suggest a few sites for ecards promotion, please do write in. We are exchanging links and offering free ecards in the meanwhile. We mainly need to promote in places which are frequented by ecard webmasters.
