Google have just introduced the option to display image-based ads instead of text-based ads on their adwords program.

You van choose your preference in the admin area or specify which type of ad (image/text) to display via linking code.

It will be very interesting to see how revenues compare between the two!

It would. I'd like to see which drew more productive attention... Right off the top of my head I would say that people are more likely to click on graphics rather than text; But I'm completely open to being wrong Wink

I don't it isn't for adwords, I think this is for adsense. It is my understanding that it is only the distributed listings that will have the images. I don't believe there will be banners on google. they have always been so against the banners that I don't think they will put them on google.com at all.

Oops, I meant the Adsense program.

Google are displaying adwords on their pages rather than images. But they may change after they get the stats from the image ads served by their affiliates. I guess it depends on the kind of site that is being advertised.

Traditionally people click on text rather than graphics but Google are incorporating some text into the graphic showing the destination URL.

Text links seem to out-perform banners, so I'm not sure why anyone would try this.   Huh

I've had image ads enabled since they started with them, but I haven't seen any on my site yet. I wish they could provide some statistics related to the image ads, so I can see if there are any image ads at all showing on my site.

as for Google it just try to fill all niches of marketing IMHO, as for people I guess the only reason is wish to get more money and try not to bother people with the same ads. I believe that image ads could do good to websites sometimes as there are certanly some people who would prefer to watch images instead of text and would most likely click on it(of course I could be wrong).
