What is Front Page and how does it work?

Does it need to be turned on before my website will be published on the internet?

Thank you.

Visit the following URL for details on Microsoft's latest version of Frontpage:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/frontpage/prodinfo/overview.mspx

This should answer most of the technical questions you may have about this software package.

I would rather use "Dreamweaver" because it's better than Frontpage for me. That was just my opinion.  Smiley

I don't blame you there Keith. Frontpage uses MS-HTML instead of HTML. It makes a big difference when you go to work on a site that has been built with FrontPage.

Dreamweaver has a nice feature, it will strip MS tags from a frontpage site and slim it down.

Another wonderful Microsoft© product. This is a WYSIWYG editor. That reads: What You See Is What You Get. Front Page is software built for web publishing and it allows HTML 'programmers' a visual way of creating web documents. It has fairly decent capabilities for building those nasty, but essential tables. It also allows users to FTP documents to a web server, which is actually when you can view your creation on the web.

Well I beg to differ. Anyone who knows HTML and has had to work on a FrontPage understands what I am saying here. FrontPage does not write HTML for you. It writes a variation and only part of the code. The code created by FrontPage is so damned bad it is sickening.

I suspect that kroert05 as a newbie is wondering why he/she/it?  Grin is being asked whether they want MS Frontpage Extensions turned on with their web hosting. This is a frequent optional feature of web hosting. However, I have no idea why I would need these extensions.

Welcome to the forums kroert05!

If the extensions are not turned on, then some features of your frontpage designed site will not work. This is because FrontPage doesn't use real HTML.
