I have worked for mobile games(simple ones and didnt completed it though, got married with SEO in between  Grin), it was CLDC (Connected Limited Device Configuration) and with MIDP(Mobile Information Device Profile). I know there is CDC for bigger device with more ram like palm top and all.

But I am not much aware of all this now, I wish I have continued for more time.

It seems like good fun and good investment in time for future opportunities to learn how to program for PDA and pocket PC, especially for wireless, camera and security stuff.

Also, you can connect gps modules and other things to the interface connector for mobile applications.

I want to start with C programming language and maybe assembly language first to really get to grips with it. My PDA is quite new so even now i have an obstacle like I have to have a serial interface to upload it's ROM image to my PC to emulate it. It comes with a docking cradle and usb cable so I may be hacking it at the weekend.

The bible of Palm OS 5 programming book is due for delivery tomorrow.

p.s. some strange jargon is creeping in on this thread which I as a part-time programmer don't understand. So, chances are many more people won't understand. But I suggest, they should start becoming familiar with the concept of assembly language programming followed by the C programming language for now.

Hi Sam, if you asking about Pocket PC OS than you could use Visual basic, check this pages http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9996b314-0364-4623-9ede-0b5fbb133652&displaylang=en
to find out more.

Hi Zamir,

I'm not a hardcore coder but I think VB is a standard form of programming with variations for the web (.net), office (VBA), mobile appliances or straight Windows code. There should be very little difference which means they are not the same but should be easily transported to the various platforms.
