I just read Jennifer's bio on her http://www.fitnessandfreebies.com/ and was moved by her ordeal as a child. I never suffered like that but once I passed 30 years old my weight accelerated to 103kg Karate training brought this down to 83kg But I stopped this after it got too much and my weight got back to 99kg at xmas.

At a young age the calories just burn away but at a certain age they stick and become fat. Now I am an exercise addict to combat my love of alcohol and peanuts.  Grin But I don't do a huge amount of exercise only very intense during my workday lunchtimes.

Now I passed another magic milestone of age and the flab was making a return so I have attacked my diet too. I have documented my crazy method of weight control at my homepage: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andrew.wilkes/fat_burning.html I think this method of weight control is good for people like me that don't want to give up the pleasures of drink and peanuts. I have only lost 2 kilos since xmas but it is a loss but I have also reduced my waist line and my muscle definition is improved.

I'll check your diet and see if I can try it on me, although diet is probably not what I can do, I simply can't resist to from certain dishes Tongue

I was a bit overweight (by 20 lbs) around the years 8-11, went anorexic at 12, and have maintained about average weight for the last 5 years. I've never really had a problem with being too fat (Even at my fattest I was about equal with all of my friends), mainly because I was always athletic (I was a tomboy throughout my childhood and earlier teen years, so I enjoyed spending my time outdoors with the guys/other athletic girls).

I go on Slim Fast and exercise 30 minutes a day when I have weight to lose. I try to stay active, but when I have work to do it's hard to find time to exercise (When I'm on a good schedule I usually exercise (cardio and body building) around 4 hours a week).

Oh yes, I've managed to keep my weight down by taking sugar out of my diet too. I will have a popsicle or something like that on occassion, but now I only buy sugar-free sweets for around the house.

Ramble, ramble... Anyway, anyone tried Beach Body's methods yet? I'm going to be trying one of their diets soon, I'll let WK know if I have success.

I think low-carb is the key since carbs give you instant energy preventing your fat from delivering the energy that your body requests.

Try my idea of the tea/coffee (no milk - replace with low carb soya - check label)  in the morning (sat/sun) followed by exercise. This denies your body carbs, you don't feel hungry and your body has no choice but to supply the energy via stored body fat.

Addition: When you exercise, make sure you are pushing yourself to really burn those calories. Fitness takes time but I notice many people down the gym aren't pushing themselves, like they are able to chat and there is no sweat. If you are burning fat you will be gulping in oxygen to react with the fat in the burning process to produce heat - basic chemistry. Make sure you get hot in your training otherwise you are not burning anything.

You can say that again! I noticed that I burned the most fat when I was playing tennis. Not only was I using my entire body, but I was performing at higher levels because I had a goal outside of mere fitness.

I have also found that using sports as a means of exercise can be effective: I don't realize how much energy I'm expelling because my mind is on the game-- Not the actual workout. (Even though I'm still a poor tennis player, hahaha)

Wow, Andy -  thanks - didn't think anyone ever checked out my bio since I'm not the "usual" type of member here.  Those were some years I went through, trying to be thin.

Since every body responds in different ways to diets and exercise, and since I've been studying this stuff for almost 15 years now and learned how controversial it can be, I really don't want to get into too much in here.   I have many firm beliefs from experience, studies and up-to-date health reports I recieve, but I did want to pop in and say "GOOD GOING!!!"   Cheesy  Every little bit helps...and speaking of that, time for me to get my butt off this computer chair and move a little, too!  Lol...I tend to skip exercise sessions due to being over-worked, too.  Yikes!  Embarrassed    When you do that, at the very least, try to get up about once an hour and move a little and stretch - does a world of good for muscles that get tight from sitting too long.

To Your Health, everyone! Smiley

Well, I just don't see many health site webmasters around webmaster forums - it seems it's more often people with personal sites, search sites, web design sites, etc., that's all.  In other words, I really don't have much to offer other webmaster - except my great company of course! Lol - JUST TEASING! Cheesy

Well, last December I had a blood test to be told my cholestrol levels were high and I would have to go on a  low fat diet, otherwise it would mean medication, which I did not want to take.  Cut out butter, cheese, chips, ice-cream, it was utter misery, for 9 weeks, but got my cholestrol down by 2 points, so no medication and last week bought a size smaller jeans.  One happy woman here Smiley

Oh, did a bit of power walking and father christmas bought me a bike.  Lost a 1lb a week, steadily.

Great to see some people taking positive steps here.

I know it's hard to avoid eating the stuff we love but I strongly suggest you build up a sweat regularly such as in the bedroom or the stairs to your office. Any heat generated by your body is fat burn!

Hi Andy,

Anyone being threatened with the lowering choestrol medication has to do everything in their power the natural way to get it down, the meds have real bad side effects, so can't see anyone want them.  It's odd, since I have given up all the fatty stuff and have tried to ride my bike and walk briskly I actually seem to have much more energy, which is a great feeling too.

Great stuff Chloe!

I hate the idea of anyone taking chemicals to combat weight loss. Like you found, just doing the positive things like some exercise makes you feel good and sets you on the way to long term good health. When I exercise, the heat makes me think the fat is being burnt to make that heat and my lungs are filling with air to de-tox my body etc. There is no way you can exercise with the same calorie intake and not lose fat. I don't worry too much about weight since when you exercise a heavy body you will build muscle in place of the fat. What you will notice most is a change in body shape.

ok with me,  have been gyming on irregular bases,,  the site by ANDY was helpful.. With me my tummy finds it too hard to get back to position...  when i loose weight, which i do with ease, people make fun telling me i dont look good..... I agree to them, when iam plum, not too fatty,,, i look grown,,,,  i have taken a step to start muscle  building  and take more proteins....  this will make me look huger,  and remove the fatty evil..
think i taking the right direction. Grin
