Revisit Tag

I have the tag <meta name="revisit-after" content="3 days"> on my site on all pages. Will google come back to refresh the page after 3 days or will it ignore this and come back at it's own pace and do the 'Google Dance' !!!!!!!!!!!

The revisit tag isn't used by any of the major search engines. It can't be. There are too many site out there now.

yup Hope is totally right, there is no way for big engines to spider you on the basis you wish... they spider sites daily and you're just somewhere in queue for spidering, the only way to make your site spidered more frequently is to update your content more frequently, some spiders will visit your site more frequently after they spot this.

Thanks all - this was something I've always been curious about too.  did find it difficult to believe a SE would revisit whenever your meta tags said..lol..somewho I had a difficult time believing that one.  I do have that meta tag in there, figured it can't hurt, but....now I know!  Good info, appreciated!

There are only a limited number of needed tags.

<title>, meta keywords (though many will debate the need for this one), meta description and meta robots. I wouldn't worry about any other tags for search engines. These are the only ones that are read by the big spiders.
