it's use fonts which is installed in Windows, so if you install new fonts for Windows you'll get them in PS as well. Some time ago I also try to find some fonts and I was manage to find some free fonts on these sites:
http://www.fontsearchengine.com
http://www.fontfreak.com
http://www.highfonts.com/
hope it would help

The websites Phoenix recommended are nice. However, I suggest that if you only wish to use these fonts for Photoshop, you install them into the PS font folder.

Windows

Program Files/Common Files/ Adobe/Fonts

Mac OS 9.x

System Folder/Application Support/ Adobe/Fonts

Mac OS X

Library/Application Support/ Adobe/Fonts

If you install a Type 1, TrueType, OpenType, or CID font into the local Fonts folder, the font appears in Adobe applications only.

This will save your resources in the long run.

yeah couldn't agree with Rachel on this;) if you don't really need fonts in any other application it's better to save resources and add them directly to PS, I didn't even aware of such solution but check it after reading the post and seems that it's exist Wink

hey, I got a problem with the photoshop fonts. I have unzipped the fonts I want to use, and put them into the appropriate folder, but Photoshop 7.0 still won't recognize them. Suggestions anyone?
(By the way: I use Mac os X)

Maybe the fonts you installed aren't recognized through Photoshop? I noticed a few of my font types weren't showing up (But now I can't remember which ones they were).

Check your user's manual or the help guide Photoshop stored on your computer. I don't have a Mac so I can't help you here.

Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts
i had a problem recently with installing too many fonts (there was over 900) in the Windows System Fonts folder - it caused the registry file they are all listed in to get corrupted and Windows would not load.. i had to use recovery console to replace the five registry files so Windows would load - then remove a lot of fonts (but keep ones needed for the system and programs) - and reinstall all hardware's drivers because all the settings in the registry had been lost. what a nightmare. also Adobe Photoshop would not load with all them fonts installed

anyway - what i want to know is if i put the fonts in that folder at the start of this post - will it not mess up the system in the same way it did with the Windows font folder???

Hi Garry, if you put the fonts in the Adobe fonts folder the system is not affected. However, if you have too many fonts, you might have an issue with Adobe PS loading in general (But it looks like you already figured that out.)
