It's just a bit of fun is this, but anyway Embarrassed

Who is going to dress-up their website for christmas ?
You know, adding snow and christmas type stuff.

Also are you going to make a christmas avatar for this forum or even just add a santa hat to the avatar you already use ?

ahh that's really pain for me, I've idea on making Christmas design for site each year but never really did it, once on my first site I've just put snow javascript which was stupid step actually Embarrassed
I always start to think about this too late... I remeber that last year I've try to make some X-Mas design but from what I remeber logo look too ugly and I'm not sure if I put it on the site or not, maybe someone of members remeber this and could tell us did we have X-Mas skin or not? Tongue
As for this year let's see if people would like to see X-Mas avatars(this shouldn't be hard to accomplish) and skin(this is kind of hard... also this skin is produced by Rachel not me so maybe we can beg her for help in putting Santa's hat over logo? Roll Eyes  Grin )so let us know about this.
BTW 12noon do you plan to customize your site for this occasion?

no, I distinctly remember last year , that nothing decorative appeared on site/skins. You wrote a nice seasonal message, and none of the members (from what I can remember) did very much (if anything) to their logos.

Thursday 25th December is going to turn up, celebrate or otherwise.....................

I always mean to, but time gets away from me and then the holiday is over - hate when that happens!  This year has been particularily bad and I spend months thinking of what I'll do.

I'd like to - if I could just squeeze it in...

nope it's ok, I like feeling of New Year's Holiday even if few last years they wasn't so happy I still got some sentiment for them which probably come from the childhood. Who know maybe your avatar will make me one day sit and make some dressing for site(I already noted this in tasks I need to perform)

As for the avatar, I'm actually just starting my design for one, bugger cause I'm not very good in the creativity section.

I will probably just put a small Christmas message on the site. The real message of Christmas is sometimes lost in all the rush and hype.

I think this is a great idea because it reminds the terrorist and religious fananatics that there is a joyous world beyond their blinkered extremist view of the world.

glad you like it Smiley Sveta ask me to tell her about any good or bad feedback so she can learn how she can improve her skills in Flash. BTW she also made static picture which actually I like more than flash and even thing of replacing flash with it, here it's:

currently it should appear if your browser doesn't have flash player installed.

I like them both. Tell Sveta your forum members thank her for her contribution and consider her talented. I don't know much about flash but I am interested in file sizes and wonder how an animated GIF of the same image would compare in file size with her flash?

I like the flash animation, especially since in the politically-correct climate of the UK the social engineers seem to want to replace Christmas with "WinterTime". I don't know about you people, but in the UK Winter can be a pretty miserable time with cold and wet weather so Christmas serves to cheer 99% of us up and give us a good reason to party and feel happy.

thanks for compliments! I'll shared them with Sveta and she was glad to know that her work was appricated, although she asked to tell that she's just learning Flash and don't have great experience that's why banner may look not as good as it could.

Don, I'm not sure if flash could be converted into GIF(I'll try to check this out) but as for .swf it's 16.8kb and I believe that gif would take more space than vector graphics.

Andy, what about Christmas Time and Winter time, is it big problem and did it arise becuase of difference in religions?

Hey Denis, just wanted to say Sveta did a great job on the snowflake banner. I enjoy looking at it when I visit the forum. Wink

I was considering learning Flash myself, but I think those days are in the past... Though I'll always be able to admire other people's work when I can.

Well, I decided to take my work in a different direction... Instead of working on web projects, I think I'd rather work on film. I always loved film, I was just not sure how where to go with it... I finally found a school that would educate me in this field, but it doesn't include any Flash... So I don't think I will have time to learn that any time soon.

I was hoping to do both, once I got the chance. As well as my own stuff, small group/independent type film... I think that would be a real experience. Wink

Entertainment media is a hard field when it comes to stable income, but I'm open to working for whatever firm would be willing to hire me (Being flexible and accepting whatever work someone throws your way helps)... And doing my own stuff on the side should be sufficient. That's how I've supplied for myself in the past, any way.

A lot of people in independent film have a hard time making money, though... I think that I would have to start out with something a little more practical before I worked my way into that area. Networking is always a plus, too.
