Hi all,

I am lined up for a root canal treatment followed by a crown on a big tooth. The root treatment (extract the root to kill the nerve before the big tooth capping exercise). I'm not sure if the root canal work is necessary since no pain now. It's just a precaution according to my dentist in case some pain comes after the crown.

The dentist is quoting me £420 for each job in the UK. I think this is too much. So the whole job will cost £840 ($1344).

Personally I only have a problem with a rough feel to the tooth. It needs some treatment but over a $1,000 bucks is maybe not required?

I appreciate any dentally challenged people to help out here.

I always wonder hearing stories from other counties about dentists and such... not sure but most things here would cost about 100 bucks or so... if I met my neighbour who work as a dentist I'll try to describe him your diagnose and ask how much it would cost here... maybe you should spend some money on the ticket to fly here and make your tooth for almost free ?Wink

Here a lot of germans go to eastern europe for a dentis..But properly they also go for other operations.
Its really wierd in germany.
We import mecids from other european countries because they are much more cheaper then the ones which are produced in germany.
(the same medicine by name producer)...
Till january for children, pupil and students medicine will be mostly free. but till next year we need to pay it. And every time we go to the doctor we should pay 10€ or only visiting the doctor (only that we can go there its not for any Treatment).

I dont know how it is in other countries...anyway..I think in germany the healthy system was and is still good but the problem is that there are too much old people and too less young..

hmm if I go to doctor I pay nothing here... of course if it's usual docotor... I would only pay for treatment or diagnostic procedures(e.g. computer diganostics).

I just had a tooth pulled a week ago and it cost $42 Canadian, I have to go for a root canal/cap on the 3rd (tomorrow) and it will cost $125 Canadian (I asked in advance).

I can't see ever paying that much for dental care...he must be in debt with the English Mob or something.

Thanks for the feedback. It really is a rip off Britain in Dental care. I paid the £400+ for the treatment and my tooth is fine only ready for the next stage of the expensive capping exercise. It seems like I could have booked a holiday in another country to have the treatment and some time off for the same price.
