Sorry for making a reply to myself, but i've got a problem !

I've installed the DVD recorder and can play dvd's on it, but Nero 5.5 didn't work with the copier, so i downloaded the nero 6 trial and that only lets me copy CD's and doesn't see my DVD recorder as a DVD redcorder.
I also got something called STOMP and that only lets my use my new drive as a DVD player and not a recorder.

I need help !

I think it might be the fact that i used the ribbon cable that i used to use with my old CDWR. Do i need a new ribbon cable ?
BTW i thought it might be the firmware, so i upgraded to the latest official version.

12noon what about speed? how much it would take to burn DVD on 2x? I always thought that even my patience wouldn't be enough not to use PC for so long... that's why I'll not by DVD-Rewriter for long time, actually I don't even have DVD-ROM;) and don't really need it IMHO

I'm not sure how long it would take at 2X speed, but i've now got the DVD recorder to work.
4X speed will do a disk in about half an hour.
 Wink
My problem was software. I've now got the latest version of Stomp - RecordNow Max and everything works just fine.

OK here goes...

I was making a DVD the other day, when my wife (rushing to the phone) gave my computer a kick !
My DVD player now doesn't work.

When i turn on my PC the set-up finds the DVD drive and it also shows up in my-computer, but when i put any disk in the drive nothing is found (no CD or DVD media).
I think my wife must have broke something inside the dvd player.
Does anyone have any advice about what i should do ?
I bought the NEC ND1300A DVDRW through a link on ebay and can't send it back.
Do you think i could take it to a shop or send it back to NEC ?

Please help. I paid around £100 for it.

sorry to hear about your problem  Sad What about this DVD is it work at all? or when you first time turn it on it's not working? Also do you have some other decice like CD-RW plugged? if so try to disconnect this other device, I've saw several time that such device could have a conflit and some weird problems appear so as disk couldn't be found after pluggin both devices in the same time.
But if it work previously and stop working after your wife kick PC try to check everything especially connection between DVD and Motherboard and if nothing help maybe try to go to nearest NEC service or to some shop which sell it's products, maybe they would deal with it if not for free maybe some cash would help, you can always try to say that you thought that you can get service in any servicenter.

I've also got a CD drive in my PC and the DVD is set to slave. I'll try taking everything out and putting the dvd back in as master. See if that works.
I'm not sure a shop would be able to fix it, but i'll try that as well.
My only other way would be to use my house contents insurance. I think i might have a chance of getting my money back through that.

Try this first thing since it's not exactly conflict between slave and muster... it's just happen to certain devices on certain motherboards, sometimes it could be fixed by new firmware for motherboard and sometimes by plugging only one device instead of two Undecided
