Hi,
Can anyone help?
I have a website and wish to password protect some pages. I mean that when a person clicks on a link, a form should come up. When the form is filled in with user name and password, only then that page should open. I should also be able to change the password from time to time so that only valid members should be able to open that page.
Your help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Zain,

Check out following password protection scripts lists:
http://javascript.internet.com/passwords/
http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Password_Protection/
http://www.jsmadeeasy.com/javascripts/Password%20Protection/list.htm

They all have different specs and alternative methods to the password protection fields. Maybe you'll find something you like.

Just a warning.. There are disadvantages to certain scripts, and passwords can be obtained quite easily. You probably want to test run several of these scripts before deciding on which one might be suitable to you.

Hi,
do a search on htaccess since this is the easiest way to password protect pages if your host supports it.

With php coding you can implement sessions and set a password variable but this is heavy programming stuff that may not be of interest ;-)

The simplest way is to have a strange page name that no-one except some special people could guess such as iamaspeciallygiftedperson.html :-)

Andy, is right this way is easiest one, but keep in mind that it's really easy for this page to become public since if you have a link on this page it would surely appear in someone's weblogs and this person could find it, some people who know it could post it on the site and so on, so the best way IMHO is to use .htacess
