Thought I would stop in and say that I survived Hurricane Juan.

It came through Halifax on Sunday night/ Monday morning.

2 fatalities and millions in damages, trees over 150 -200 years old are on the roads, on houses and of course on the power lines.

I am at a friends house, because he is a lucky one of very few that have power due to the hurricane. Power at my place may not be on till Friday, possibly even next monday.

There is not a clear street in the city. Canadian Armed Forces have been deployed from other provinces to help clean up the mess here, as well as in P.E.I.

My neighbors fence was blown down except for a couple sections, across the street another fence down as well as 2 apple trees uprooted and pulled from the ground. A couple of streets away an apartment building had its WHOLE roof ripped off (not just the shingles but the everything rafters and all) and it landed on a trailer about a 3 houses away.

Thought I would let everyone know.

BTW what happen to the layout of the forum???

Awful news! Cry
I hope most everyone is doing alright, hanging in there...

BTW, I think Denis just switched to SMF, which means I'll have to redesign the forum again.. Another thing we might want to discuss..

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Hurricanes are like our cyclones, they both are terrible!
Wishing you well...

Well its Friday now at about 11am and still no power, I do have phone cable and interent, but that really doesn't help since I cannot turn on the tv or the computer. I was told yesterday that it should be back on about 7 tonight.

About half the city has their power back.

It really wasn't terrifing more like a concern, I have been helping people clean up their yards and do small repairs when need be. I really don't have much else to do with no computer. Right now I back at a friends house using his internet.

There is about 600 - 800 military personal in Halifax and surrounding area helping with the clean up. It may be end of next week before the entire city has power. A stripp mall down the street must be about ready to go under with no power and down for 5 days now. There have now been a few accedents due to the street lights not working and drivers ability to recognize that a corner with no lights is a 4 way stop...everyone is in a hurry cause they don't have to work.

Schools have been cancelled till next week, same with government workers. Except of course the labourers that are cleaning up debree.

Thats all for now, if I get more info will let everyone know.
