As I continue working on my website, I contacted number of site owners/maintainers.  Some just to exchange links, some participated in our survey, and discussing possible affiliate program deals with some.  In order to keep in touch with these contacts and get their attention, I am considering to start a newsletter.  Probably it just tells people about weekly update of the website and stuff, and possibly add more content later on.  Is there any tip and trick as someone starts a newsletter?

Hey WR! A few things you should probably need to know are, you'll need a way for subscribers to sign up or remove themselves, as well as a way for you to quickly and efficiently mail out to the entire mailing list.

Here's a list from the Mailinglist hosting Google Directory:
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Mailing_Lists/Hosting_Companies/

And here's a Tucows downloads page for recommendable mailing list software:
http://www.tucows.com/mailserver95_default.html

And here's another list of newsletter scripts:
http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Mailing_Lists/

You can also use the services provided by your webhost or something else... It might not be as convenient, but you don't run into control issues or advertising when you do things yourself.

Well, that's about all my knowledge of newsletters. Good luck!

Very interesting.  I've read many blogs and tutorials about the 7 step program to getting sales.. I really hate the idea of having to write a news letter or running a email compaign.  But I guess its either this or start cold calling. Hmm, I like the idea of newsletters lol.  I haven't ran a newsletter in the whole time i've been in business.. I really don't want to get hate mail.. I know what its like getting mail from some company and really don't want it..  Then again will it get read.
